I prefer wax melts. I find they last longer and smell stronger than candles. Also I have a child so I find they are safer than candles. It's also more affordable so I usually get more than 2 scents at at time. Wax melts are better value for your money for sure.

Hi, I had Wax Melts with me for the first time two weeks ago at a farmers market to test how it is going ( I currently only sell at farmers markets) and all was sold. Some have also asked if I sell the melters as well. So I bought melters for the next market to offer wax melts and melters as a set. 'm from Berlin and I honestly see very rarely in stores Wax Melts, so I was surprised that they are well liked by people.

I am working on starting a wax melt Business, I'm currently in the research stage. I just bought some equipment to get started and I'm planning on starting with just wax melts but I'd like to try making candles as well! I personally love wax melts more cause warmers are safer than candles and I have a 4yr old at home lol

Wax melts do not just come in cubes. I Make mine in all sorts of shapes and designs. There is also a whole different category of wax melts known as scoopable wax, and you can even make wax melts that you use a spoon with that look like candles but do not have a wick. I sell far more wax melts than candles because people like the flameless option. They are safer around children and pets and do not need as much attention while still surrounding your home with fragrance.

I have a self care essential business called AMOUR XXIV , and I offer candles, self care apparel, bath salts and room sprays, mugs, and concrete home décor. Candles have been my main focus in my business since I started in 2020 and I was thinking about adding wax melts but didn't know how popular they were. I love your channel by the way has been really helpful in teaching me all about candle making.

I'm hoping to add candles to my line soon- I've been a soapmaker since '08 and added mini lip balms to my line when I started a business. People are kinda "meh" on the soaps (biz is building though!) but they've gone bonkers for the lip balms and I can't keep them in stock. 😍 Thanks for the informative video! I was really surprised at the results! 😎

I'm an aspiring business owner. I want to make wax melts only, because I find that they're more fun to make and I love the various fun molds you can use. I'm going to be starting a fundraiser for my friend and we'll mainly be selling wax melts (7 different options) and will hopefully be launching 1 candle soon. I just really don't enjoy candles anymore. I love buying them from other people, but I find candle-making to be 10x more stressful (and am always disappointed or frustrated with my results) than the wax melt process.

Late to the party (as usual) but you’ve made me feel SO much better … I’m having serious issues with wicking/hot throw and am at my wits end. Obviously I don’t have this problem with melts. That is my dilemma. I have been trying to make candles off and on since 2017. It is so hard for me because I can't get the scent throw like I want. But I wasn't sure if people would want candles instead of melts. But candles are too hard for me right now and I am getting frustrated.So I am going to do wax melts instead. My melts I can be proud to sell because they are good. Maybe one day I'll incorporate candles.

If you are only looking at the popularity of the items, then units sold is a good metric. However, if you are looking at which item is more successful, you should be comparing revenue and profits generated from each category. That would be more interesting for me as I have just begun selling wax melts and am considering moving to candles as well. But based on the data you provided it seems that candles are much more profitable for you than the melts. Thanks for sharing information regarding your company to help others who aren't as far along on the journey.
@MemoryBoxCandleCo
@MemoryBoxCandleCo 2 жыл бұрын
Totally see what you mean! Yes candles are more profitable, that’s a great observation
@olivialovesdesign
@olivialovesdesign 2 жыл бұрын
Not really true- candles have a lot more expense to make- 1) mor wax 2) wicks and the accessories required to hold wicks down etc 3) glass or metal jars, lids, then you have to add your labels and safety labels and then packaging is larger and more fragile (if it’s a glass candle)… and it takes way more time and testing. Wick testing alone can take $500 in your first experiments with candles. Melts are wax and oil and whatever packaging and small labels you are using and are sent in a much smaller non fragile postal bag. You can also create a recycling program where customers send back the hard plastic cube container your melts came in, you clean it out and re-use it and your customers get reward points or discounts for doing so. You cannot really do that online with glass candle jars the cost of fragile packaging and the risk of it breaking on the way back is too great. So you can’t really say candles are more profitable even if she sold more candles because the profit margin is ALWAYS less with candles due to the outlay just to make a single candle not to mention a whole batch. And then there is setting times… fixing air bubbles at the top… lower scent throw so needing to use more oil…. Candles are not fun. Nor are they of a greater profit. Eveyone makes candles and it may seem like there’s wax melts everywhere but if you come up with a USP and make your different and have amazing blends and quality melts wity amaisng cold and warm scent throw - well just look at Scentsy! Two women started that in their kitchen! It’s a $5.2 billion industry in America last year alone! (Wax melts!)
@toddwynn3397
@toddwynn3397 2 жыл бұрын
@@olivialovesdesign I won't disagree that the profit margin per unit is higher for wax melts, but I was talking about total revenue and total profits. Just taking the units sold that she provided and comparing that to the prices she has listed on her website, she generated $1,920 of revenue from wax melts and $6,096 of revenue from candles. That's a difference of over $4,000 total revenue. I can't imagine the the profit margins are such that the wax melts brought in more total profits. Of course, I could be wrong about that. But, again, that would have been more interesting than just going over units sold.

Hey Erica really nice Video as often! But so funny that your candles are half half. I'm selling Candles as an addition to my String Arts like a special at seasons. Mostly they do really well but it's so much time to do for mine because i'm focused on pouring them into molds and give them all a unique design. But thats fun and really thought about adding wax melts but here in germany you have so many guidelines to keep an eye out that i still stay with only cute and pretty looking candles... for now :D Candles are not my focus but it's such an interesting topic and I really love to watch how this all is going along in your business! Stay healthy and happy! -Anzy
