I'm on my 2nd year of testing. I swapped from single wicking to double wicking and it has been a journey for sure. Testing the same fragrance over and over and over and over again to ensure safety + HT is mental torture but so worth it when everything just comes together.

It's so crazy how the name of a candle will do that! I have had a few fragrances that didn't move in my shop and I decided to rename them and boom, one became a best seller for me!

Names are a funny thing. I had a handmade soap business from 2002 to about 2010 and we had an old English/medieval/Dickens England theme going and all my fragrances had names. Patchouli was Nottingham Knights, lavender was English Enchantment, cranberry and fig was Dickens Delight during the year and Dickens Christmas during the holidays and so on. At one point, I got tired of trying to come up with names and started resorting to calling each soap by the fragrance or essential oil name. Boy did I get the complaints. My customers loved the names I gave to everything. Nothing else changed but the names and it made a huge difference. We didn't do a lot of wholesale, but our top three sellers were always oatmeal, milk and honey, lavender and a blend I make of pine, patchouli and sandalwood. So I kept the names. To this day I still bump into people that bought my soap and remember the names. When we were house hunting one time we walked into the bathroom and there was my soap in the soap dish. LOL!!! What I think is people concentrated more on the smell of the soap when they didn't know exactly what it was. If I had labeled Mystic Woods as pine, patchouli and sandalwood, I think some people would not have bothered to stop and smell it because they could say oh I hate patchouli or whatever. But by calling it Mystic Woods, it made it seem a bit more exotic maybe and they would pick it up and smell it. Just my thoughts on candle and soap names.

I have found 444 wax mixed with a small amount of beeswax works wonders for my melts. I also used BW 921 and it worked great too.

I've been running my wax melt business in our 576 Sq ft 1 bedroom apartment since 2017- no kids but it's still rough! I have a big IKEA workstation that takes up most of the kitchen and inventory and wax/ supplies in the living room and bedroom. I'm so ready for a two bedroom so I can have a dedicated work room ! Congrats on the upgrade!
