Please join us for this live teaching with John Eldredge, pre-recorded from April 2014's Men at the Outpost. We encourage you to consider grabbing a group of guys to watch it together. As always, we hope these monthly gatherings will be a catalyst for going deeper with God and with your band of brothers.

John, I love you. I thank God for this. Listen, please; God loves me and nothing i.e. no single thing, can ever happen to me without God allowing it. He has to give his permission for anything evil to befall me. So, when evil befalls me I know the Father has allowed it and because I trust my Father I immediately thank Him for it - no matter how painful it may be. This is because, as we know, God our Father brings great good, great beyond description, from evil and in spite of evil - for those who love Him. So, I love Him and to show Him this I thank Him.. not for the evil but for allowing it -because it will come to my great great advantage; no matter how impossible this may seem at first in the face of evil things. The scriptural blueprint of all this is obviously in the book of Job. So, what is my point? it is this:- though I understand why you are saying it, it is nonetheless wrong to say that the statement that 'everything that happens to me is willed by God' is wrong. It isn't wrong but the truth of it must be properly understood. This understanding, a gift of The Holy Spirit, is essential. I hope and pray that you can accept this. Thank you for your witness and ministry. I rarely disagree with you and most often I learn so much from you it can oftentimes make me cry. Peace be to you and yours, in the Love of Jesus. Amen.

If I don't believe that miracles still happen, then I don't have to feel guilty that I'm not walking in that level of spiritual power.

you might be like Martin Luther who didnt believe in miracles until his best friend was deathly ill and he prayed and his friend was healed --luther changed his theology because of, yes, his experience.

+pablo flotho No, I acknowledge Mark 16:17-18. I was just analyzing some of the justification/ shame avoidance behind the assumption.

I feel I suffer from that assumption that my mind thinks that everything that happens is the will of God. I can feel it is not true, but my mind says: Yes, but God is all powerfull . The reasoning behind this is that because ultimately there is nothing beyond Him, He IS everything, He must somehow give permission or at least allow for the forces of darkness ( that are in the end only distorted powers of good, because there is nothing else) to do their thing so we can grow in Love. But this wrecks my heart dealing with painful events in my life and I haven't found an argument yet that stills my mind on this. Unless it is that it's the trick of the enemy to make you feel over- responsible by saying that there is a lesson in everything for you, because God allowed it for you to learn something. While sometimes shit just happens and all you can do is survive. I feel the argument of my mind is something beyond my understanding that I think I understand but I don't. If it would work like this on the highest level then when time is ripe I may understand it in a way that does not feel heart wrecking. Because that can't be right. And what I feel to be true I may just accept as truth, even if my mind doesn't understand: God Loves me and doesn't intend or allow harm to come to me, nor hasn't He ever. I am safe with Him.

We do this monthly in the Spring and Fall. At the moment we make the live broadcast available to alumni of our events and post the shows here on KZfaq after we edit them. In the future we may make the live events available to a larger audience. Jon (RH)
