In this video, I react to TikToks and give my perspective on a variety of topics regarding modern dating. Of course these reaction videos are entertaining, but I do also think they help shed light on behaviors to look out for when you're meeting new people.

I think when guys shy away from "strong and confident", they mean something really different from what you do. In this world of capital-F Feminism, "strong and confident" can be a polite way of referring to pushy, dominating, non-feminine women. Most guys very much want what you describe, but that ain't always what's out there. :)

99% of the time that's what it means, especially when a woman is describing herself that way. Most of the time feminine women just don't think of themselves like that. "Strong," maybe, but never "powerful."

Dating apps are ridiculous. Great way to make sure you have a few men who get laid all the time, a majority of men who are despondent and resentful, and a majority of women who are wildly disappointed by the fact that they can't get a man to stick around. They've been horrible for us.

Courtney, would love to hear you talk about the 80/20 principe. Also, the recent study on online dating that showed that women rated 80% of men as unattractive and only “liked” about 4% of men’s profiles. Men on the other hand rated 60% of women’s profiles as attractive.
@mannygonzales1985
@mannygonzales1985 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I would like to hear that discussion also. But I think there's more variables involved in it, as far as what men are attractive according to women. There's women who want an attractive man, and there's some that are looking for a wealthy looking provider. So yeah they may view a majority of men as unattractive, but if that unattractive man has a yacht, and a picture of his lambo, then I'm sure he would be an exception. Just like a guy who may be tall, muscular and attractive, but doesn't have what the unattractive guy has as far as resources, then it could be a toss up depending on the woman's age and what she's really looking for etc etc. Or she can just go for both, and have the best of both worlds. I believe that principle exists, but don't think it's so black and white, and there's exceptions to every rule.

People say "Love will find me when I'm ready. A right person will come when you least expect it." I agree with that, but to a degree. If you just sit on the ass and wait for perfect person to walk into your life, that is not going to happen. You have to work on yourself, be sufficient, successful, happy. Only then the person you meet can be a perfect fit, when you don't need it to "complete" you but to complement you.

Based on my experience with dating apps over the course of 6 years, I've got to be the ugliest, most undesirable guy to exist. Counting all of the matches from 3 apps, I've matched with less than 30 actual people, 2 of which I had an actual conversation with for more than a day. I've even worked with people on creating many different types of bios, used the pictures that show I have friends, pets, family, do outdoor activities, work out, have hobbies, dressed up, dressed down, serious, goofy, confident... and these were my results. Okay Courtney, three things. 1-The tik tok you watched with the girl saying "he is gay" because he hasn't come over, despite me staring at him and giving him signs is SELF-ENTITLEMENT at it's finest. Many times, guys are aware that girls do this, if we don't approach...it could be that we're just shy as well or mostly that we are just not that interested in you. That fact that she resorts to calling him gay is stupid and that's the point you missed. Point 2- The whole online dating thing is ridiculous, many men & women put what they want on their dating profiles, but then their actions don't match up. Many do and live up to it, it's a 50/50 thing. I'll write Point 3 on the comment to this post...
@stevenhaley1999
@stevenhaley1999 2 жыл бұрын
Point 3- a strong and powerful woman is interpreted differently in this time period Courtney. Some ladies may take a strong and powerful woman as independent, not needing a man. Some ladies take a strong and powerful woman as a business lady. Some ladies take a strong and powerful lady as someone who is respectable, confident, and humble as needed. It varies, but think of it like this Courtney...you got a strong & powerful woman getting into a relationship with a strong & powerful man...You don't think these two strong & powerful people will bump heads with each other frequently? To further elaborate, if you put two bossy people into the same group to lead...you don't think that there may be a possibility of severe social conflict between one another? The strong & powerful woman & man may "bump heads" with each other a lot because they both would be fighting for that position in power in the relationship. That's why you need a man & woman with morals and who are truly respectful of one another.

I feel this changed my mindset and perspective on talking to or interacting with women, I read it on a forum, I thought the guy hit the nail right on the head. It changed my perspective and mindset on talking to women. A guy was asking for advice on how to get better at talking to women, and people used the word practice "It bothers and annoys, enrages me or pisses me off a lot when people use the word practice, because the way I see it, for women, there is no such thing as practicing talking to men, because women's lives are on autopilot when it comes to talking to men since puberty, due to all of the constant attention they've been getting since then, women are forced to, have no choice but to learn how to talk to men, and they gain it right away by doing nothing since they don't have to open their mouth first" I thought to myself, never truer words have been said or spoken. I thought that was bang-on right there. and i got a response from a dating coach on youtube, which enraged and pissed me off more, while I don't disagree with him, I just don't like how he said the brutal cold harsh fact of how different for men and women when it comes to getting better at talking to and interacting with the opposite sex. It makes sense and I like to believe there is far more advice for guys in the world on how to talk to and interact with girls then there is advice for girls on how to talk to and interact with guys. He said: "Don't worry about what other people don't have to do or why something is easier for them or whatever the comparison may be. Focus on you, where you want to be, what you need to do to get there and then get moving." That pissed me off more when I read that. Another reason why I don't like it is because it feels or seems like the way a guy talks and interacts with people or a guy's social skills has a much bigger impact on his attractiveness or ability to get a girlfriend then the other way around. As in, the way a girl talks or a girl's social skills doesn't impact her attractiveness or ability to get a boyfriend as much as it does for a guy to get a girlfriend. If an interaction or conversation goes poorly or bad between a man and a woman,. It's always the guys fault, it's impossible for a woman to screw up a conversation or interaction with a guy.

I agree the apps aren't conceptually bad, but I find that the paradigm amplifies hypergamy and the problems that often come along with it (unreasonable expectations, no shot for bottom 90% of guys, etc.), and I've had bad experiences. I don't think I'm actually undesirable, but the apps had me thinking that. I'm sure some of it was my profile and stuff, but the system is designed to get people to stay on the apps as long as possible and have to pay to get access to "better" matches. Hinge says it's designed to be deleted, but that's literally just a marketing line. It's designed to be addictive. One of my friends got married to a Hinge match, which I have absolutely no qualms with, but for the people it doesn't work out for, it limits our options outside of that pool.

My eye contact story: I moved from Silicon Valley to my wife's home state, which has some high-tech going on. Unfortunately I struggled to find a job I was passionate about and was often under-employed. At one point I got a job in Silicon Valley just to be fully employed, but had to live 1000 air miles from home (gets old after awhile). Having a bit of free time I started going to a gym. One day this lovely young lady, and oh was she lovely, looked at me and smiled. Her body language, her smile, and her eyes all said, "Come talk to me." Wow was she tempting. And how easy it would be to pretend to be single. Except for the occasional mysterious "business trip" that lasted a week or two, there was no reason for any local to suspect I had a wife and daughter. But I thought, I am not going to ruin the lives of my wife and daughter. I am not going to ruin this young woman's life. And I am not going to ruin my own life. So I did not talk to her. I must be gay. 😉

Around my early 20s just out of college, I would hear about either male friends or acquaintances having a bachelor party and bringing in a stripper and /or sex worker for the sole purpose of getting the future groom to committing various acts of sexual impropriety. All I could think was: How foolish, reckless, and treacherous unto his soon to be bride to exchange vows the following day after purposefully setting up a final "roll in the hay" the night before. I just couldn't grasp how a groom and his "best men" thought this was morally justified and a solid foundation for a whole new union; and a brand new family upon which he would be deemed the trusted, capable, and morally upright standard bearer endowing him with rights and responsibilities that go with being the head of the family.

I cheated on the first girlfriend I ever had. The girl I lost my virginity to. No reason, just an opportunity that came along. That was 18 years ago. I was 15. It's the only time I have ever or will ever cheat. Since then, my morals have developed and are now set in stone. Most people describe cheating as being unfaithful. I have come to the conclusion that it's far worse than that. It's dishonourable. It usually involves lying to protect oneself from the consequences of one's own actions which is cowardly. It involves breaking one's own commitment and it involves breaking someone else's trust. Now I have a zero tolerance policy on cheating; not just for myself but for others as well. That being said, I am an example of how the phrase 'once a cheater, always a cheater' is completely false......but when I did it, social media wasn't nearly as common. If you cheat now, there will be a record of it that people can use against you even if you develop the same morality as me and others like me. It's just never going to be worth it.

@@wyleecoyotee4252 this basis of a woman submitting to her husband goes back to the dawn of mankind. Yes, it is very possible for the woman to usurp authority and 'rule' over her husband. But, in that scenario she isn't fulfilled, satisfied or happy and neither is her husband. A huge problem is that you aren't able to see that a woman submitting to her husband has 'great power' as her husbands role is to love, honor, nurture and protect his wife. You are only assuming that a man as 'leader' will abuse that role. When a man does not abuse his authority as 'head of the relationship' it is a very beautiful, lasting, fulfilling and happy arrangement. The only possible arrangement for a successful LTR in any era, age or dispensation.

@Jim Baxter 'The dawn of mankind'...everything changes including needing a man to provide all that you mentioned. Women have discovered that men who become husbands who actually love, honor, and protect(from what??..lol) their wives to provide a fulfilling and happy arrangement are few and far between. Most 'leaders' and i use that term loosely, do abuse that power. One of many reasons women prefer to be in charge of their own destinies.

She makes them a power couple So a strong powerful woman doesn't have a high body count, doesn't manipulate because she doesn't need to and wants his kids which proves her power in being unafraid. Less makes the woman less, a pass around. A man is a fool to not want a powerful woman or not helping his woman be as powerful as she can be..

Can we define cheating? Because it seems like we can't even agree what that is anymore. Physically, I consider it sex, and other romantic intimacy, (french kissing, groping, pda beyond friendly touching, like handshakes or hugs.) Financially, I consider it staying in the same hotel room, honeymooning, big gifts. But really jealous types will even consider hanging out, having a co-ed cadre of friends, family, and community associations cheating because of their 'emotional affair' theories. In social media they'll even consider group pictures cheating... that's not cheating. I mean sure most people would love if their partner was invited to go everywhere they are, or else, was on the same schedule to permit that, or that their partner was even willing to go everywhere they want to go... but we simply don't live in that kind of world anymore. And we don't live in a world where one partner is at home all day and the other partner is at work all day unless someone is staying home with younger children instead of sending them to daycare.

I cheated, told my ex immediately and I basically said "why don't you give a fuck?" she said "I understand why you did it", then walked out a little after. I put up with her doing all this for 3.5 years 6 hours away from my family, I move with her cause I naively thought she would be the opposite. She'd hit me, treat me like a trophy in public or around family, Cleaning the apartment was never good enough, she never would let me cook, she'd always be glued to her phone. I'm not saying cheating is right, but biiiiiiiiitch if you don't have respect for me as a man, why in the fuck should I have respect for you? why the fuck should I continue to continue us if you never give a fuck? what kind of hypocritical narcissistic shit is that? I wonder how Courtney thinks about my situation. Luckily I have a girlfriend now that supports me in everything, loves me, cares for me, cooks, cleans and doesn't complain about a fucking thing lol and also isn't about herself, we argued once and talked through it and she even listened to what I had too say, she listens a lot to what I have too say, which my ex? was always "not today jordan, I'm not feeling it" etc. etc. I will never cheat on this girl, ever, because she is treating me how I should be treated and vise verse, I'd hope she wouldn't cheat on me because I'm treating her how she should be treated. For my ex too say "I understand why you cheated" then literally not even talk about the root causes that lead too the cheating, she obviously never cared. That's why for me why does it matter whether you cheat on a girl that never gives a fuck about you or you leave lol? the girl is the one in the relationship that has all the power to leave it, the guy introduces himself 9/10 times, is the one that has to make first moves 9/10 times, the girl is the one that can leave most of the time. I told her a shit ton "then there's the door" but then she'd constantly go back to her bullshit and it'd be constant cycle, like bitch, quite hurting me and walk the fuck out, but, you coincidently waited until I cheated for you to have a scapegoat and for me too look like the bad guy lol

There really is a difference between someome who is faux confident and someone who actually is...in men and women. A strong and confident woman refers to a woman who values and sticks up for herself. Most guys, from experience instead, infer it to mean a girl who is obsessed with feeling powerful because deep inside she is horribly unconfident and insecure. She likely wants to control everything around her too just to feel safe -- all around a person controlled by her own fears. Power and control are the sources of abuse, people. An insecure women is as undateble and dangerous as an insecure man.

Because when you are young and you and your girlfriend/ or boyfriend split up there is grief and hurt ! But the next time it's easier, and becomes easier every time, so that when marriage comes and there is an argument too many it's become easy to depart !

Women should not believe everything what their female friend tells them. I remember this episode of my life back in the early 90s. I had two female friends, we were all friends. Girl # 1, found a guy started dating and moved in together. Girl # 2 started telling her friend Girl # 1 that she saw him kissing another woman. Thus, she threw him out of her apartment. Girl # 2 started withdrawing from our social circle, explaining her work demanded more time from her. A year later, Girl # 1 and I found out that Girl # 2 married her ex boyfriend. My friend Girl # 1 was devastated, telling me that she really liked him. Because we figured out the time line, Girl # 2 and Girl # 1 ex boyfriend, had to date for a while before deciding to wed. The reason why Girl # 2 withdrew from our social circle, she was dating her friend's ex. My advice to both women and men, don't believe everything what your friend tells you, especially about a girlfriend or boyfriend. There might be personal reasons, that you might not know. Such as, I have the hots for your boyfriend / girlfriend. Age old situation since the beginning of time. Always ask for proof; why am I saying this, because the same thing happened to me.

All of us are too good for dating apps. That's a fact. Dating apps take out so much of the organic, real life meeting. You are just a picture, and some words. You don't speak and listen to them, you don't sense their aura, their energy. The authenticity disappears. I don't think that many people are in a position to be getting in serious relationships now anyway, it is incredibly difficult to buy a house and have a family. The most important relationship is the one you have with yourself, as cheesy as that sounds. Definitely enjoy, and generally agree with, your logical + common sense advice.

At 8:27, as a man, I really can appreciate inner strength to be confident as an individual person. Confidence comes in so many forms, but embrace yourself as an individual.

The thing with dating apps is that if you're not above 6' you're out.
