It seems dumb but it’s smart bc he knows the person is on his outside hip. It forced the USC runner to either stay behind him or pass him on the inside but if he tries to pass him he has to drift inside and use more energy. Both of the turns were meant to be outside to make sure he wasn’t overtaken on the outside.
@PrimeSuperboy
@PrimeSuperboy 2 жыл бұрын
@@joshuanelson9462 I disagree. You can force someone on the outside if they start to make a move. There's no need to keep yourself on the outside for both turns. Was a very strange move.

That's true, he ran the entire 400 like that towards the outside edge of the lane just giving room for the opposition to come in. That might have cost him 10-15 more meters of runnning.

You ever wonder why athletes have such a hard time with mental health? Its because of people like so many commenting here and the careless comments of these broadcasters! Seriously, wtf is wrong with you people?! THESE SAME 4 ATHLETES ALREADY EARNED THE ALL TIME NATIONAL COLLEGIATE RECORD! THESE SAME 4 ATHLETES JUST WON OUTDOOR NATIONALS, SET A MEET RECORD, and SET A FACILITY RECORD!!!! So what EXACTLY did my son LOSE for this team??? Are the other three faster? Yes. But to focus your energy on breaking one athlete down for ANY reason after what they have accomplished is shameful. Do you realize he came in to college as an 800 runner? Do you realize in the past 2 years he has recovered from 2 major surgeries... one of which was on BOTH legs? Do you realize just this last week he was recovering from Influenza A, 104° Fever, out of any practicing for a week and lost 12lbs from it??? These boys won! It takes all 4 in a relay. Tell me another collegiate team right now that has all 4 runners capable of 44s??? They set records! What other team has that? Tell me again WTF he lost for the gators? Nevermind. Its more enjoyable to tear down than to build up. Sad.

I'm talking Carter, Dix, Merritt, Clement, Gay, Spearmon, Thompson, Monique Henderson and Sanya Richards on the women's side. In 2005 especially it was just constant records. 400m indoor, 200m indoor twice, outdoor 4x400 and outdoor 200m with Dix in 2007. It was an insane time to be a collegiate track athlete.
