Adoptee, Monique, talks about growing up adopted. She faced a lot of emotional and mental abuse. Living in a state of depression, she still fights for family therapy, to effectively have a relationship with the family who says they love her.

So glad this young lady got the opportunity to speak her truth. It's not easy, that takes a lot of strength and doing so is part of the healing process, very therapeutic.

It’s certainly not easy! It takes SOOO much because you want to be sure you have a safe space. I was happy to have her share and listen to it because there’s so much more we couldn’t get to on the first go round but there’s more to come.

She really needed this, to get her story out, and you provided a platform for her to do so. 👏🏽 👏🏽

That’s why I enjoy this. Having the chance to tell your story. She’s way ahead of the game, as I was 90 years old before I could talk about mine. Yep! I said 90.

I meet Monique years ago or more at my church and became friends until now. She was and still is a sweet girl and have a big heart. She is full of life. I never knew this part of her story and I am so proud of her by sharing her story. I believe this will hlep others to understand all adoptee children and the true they are facing. System have to be evaluated and give a better life to all adoptee or future adopted children. Love you much Monique.

Definitely needs to be evaluated. That’s the thing that hurts the most. Tossing an innocent child around like they’re just an old rag?! This is a human being! They do a better job when playing pets! Already being removed from your bio family and placed where you’ll be abused is traumatic. If it’s going to be that way, why not leave the child in the care of their parents?

@@OnceanOrphanI think we need stronger evaluations done for potential adoptive parents. Such as looking back into their own history and thorough psychiatric evaluations to determine if the potential parents are a good fit for the child. It should not be can the child be a good fit for the family as the child is the one who needs the support, not the parents..that support can come later as the child grows and develops.

Definitely needs a more serious evaluation. I think they do background checks, drug tests and makes parents have gainful employment. Is that truly enough?

This was a a very good interview/story. It takes a lot of courage to share your story. As a sister tho I wouldn’t say I’m not intellectual enough. That implies I have some intellectual disability . I would say I’m not knowledgable enough but beautiful story☺️

Beautiful story and I agree with you. She’s extremely intelligent. We all have areas of weakness or needs for improvement, but Monique is definitely an intelligent and beautiful woman. I was so glad we spoke.

Everything Monique just said. Talking about it, therapy, prayer and trusting God. It’s definitely a journey, definitely a process, but the work does help. The hardest part is getting to knowing you need the help, which comes with the acknowledging the issue.

Why was she removed from her first foster mother's home?
@TheeAdoptee88
@TheeAdoptee88 2 ай бұрын
According to my foster record and my adoptive mother, I was removed because I was not being “stimulated” intellectually
@OnceanOrphan
@OnceanOrphan 2 ай бұрын
That’s what they say but the system is good for making up rules as they go. That would sound better than saying she had a bagel for breakfast, but “not being stimulated” gives it a better reason. 💔🤦🏽‍♀️
