Once you get the hang of it, patterning like this is suuuuuuuuuper fun. I like making the patterns by hand and just zoning out, then when it comes to digitally editing them for use? There’s not much work left to do, but I always stall on that part because it’s not as fun. And Bubba is all sorts of snuggly right now! In the bed, he’s decided the space next to my face is HIS and he WILL move anything that’s in “his spot” or throw a tantrum until I move it. Then he’ll curl up in a ball and demand I be touching him at all times in one way or another. Even if that just means the side of my arm is making some sort of contact while I do stuff on my phone. =>.

Magiccccccc!!! There’s another way of tiling the quadrants so the pattern repeats diagonally, but I only saw it done once a few years ago and don’t remember how the section swaps went, so it’ll just have to remain a mystery for now! Especially because, as mentioned at the beginning, I usually go in without research or a plan. =>.

I've seen some sort of very brief instructions on how to do this on the Spoonflower website, but this is far more detailed. I love the outcome!

There you go, thinking things through more than me. 😂 My first attempt with this method, I did watercolor... and almost went to every edge. (With many different colors.) It was not successful. This is such a crazy cute pattern. I know this is presumptuous, I'm hoping for some merch made with this... Excited to see how you clean up your scans, plus how great the repeating pattern looks, repeated.

Oh man, I’m really trying to think about how this could even a little bit be done in full color, and the only reasonable idea I have so far is to not fill in all the way and use the clone tool in photoshop to make the background line up or something. It just seems like it would be so fussy! I do plan on adding this pattern up on red bubble, along with the others already up there. So far, the skulls have been my favorite overall, but these adorable skull bats are a suuuuuuuper close second. Actually working on the second part of the vid at this EXACT moment (my computer crashed so I’m just waiting for it to restart) so that should be coming out either this week or the next! Considering posting the Miyazaki paint swatches first, though. 🤔

Oh yeah. I mean I’m sure that if I worked with it long enough I could make it work, but yeah... in my case it just wasn’t worth it. I’m going to try again soon, I think using your black and white method. I mean this pattern turned out super cute. I look forward to both videos. And I’ll be sure to look at the red bubble shop then. 😁👍

I kind of feel like it could be accomplished if you did the handmade portion in black and white, but then fully colorized it digitally. Something worth thinking about... Also, psst. The second half of the tutorial isn’t coming out until next week, but Redbubble’s already been updated as of last night because I had to shoot that footage. :D

Aaaaah!!! Look at those precious sweet kissy chompie babies!!!!!! They’re so wiggly and lovey!!!!! Also, glad the way I explained it made sense! Took a bit of extra effort on my part to make it all work for y’all, but I think it was worth it!

@@MeowMeowKapow Definitely worth it. Instruction were clear and I was able to follow your methodology! So the story behind the video....rodents are super wiggly. Trimming their claws is hard because they just wiggle away. Soooo the best way I know how is to give them ferret crack (Ferretone). Seriously ferrets will see their own mothers for this stuff. So I had just finished Nimbus (the white one) and he had ferretone on his chin....hence the intense licking by Nocti (little black one). And it was soo cute I had to film it.
