I worked at a grocery store for half a year and they would charge a ‘bottle deposit` fee. When people came to recycle the bottles the machine was broken and they couldn’t get their bottle deposit back. And in general everything was WAAAY overpriced and employees were underpaid. The day I quit was the happiest day of my life, of course they beg you to stay and all but I got out of there and never looked back.

Yeah, I’ve worked a few jobs where you basically feel like you’re losing your humanity the whole time. Quitting feels amaaaaaaazing.

Yeah, I agree that it was morally the right decision, but it did end up leading to more desperation and more bad choices. Still, I had to have all of those experiences to become the person I am today, so I can’t really regret them.

I JUST finished editing the book and am assembling my beta team of readers to go over it. Last steps left are cover design, formatting, make promo materials, and then publish it. So it’s done, but not available yet. I’ll happily let you in on its existence-DM me on insta and I’ll give you my authory info. Don’t have a recommended thing, for supplies or for books. I think I looked into it a while ago for amazon but I’d had trouble at the time, now I just link stuff in the doobly doo that’s relevant to the video and keep my palette building supplies there always....though in my author FB group I have started posting a “what I read this week” thin every now and then and recommending stuff. Totally the same, right?

I love these sketch and story videos! They are really fun and you are an awesome narrator! I am sorry to hear that you had such bad experiences with jobs. I think things in Europe are a bit less dramatic.

Ah, I’m glad you like them! I worry they’re not as interesting as ones where I do tests and break down useful information, y’know? The US is capitalism at its cruelest, I think. Don’t know what it’s like elsewhere, but I’m realizing that we’ve really made sure to be...cutthroat.

Meow Meow Kapow Meow Meow Kapow I think you can make any story interesting! You are such a natural at this! I think the informative videos are good too. But currently I am a bit more picky about the time I spent online and I decided to stop watching product reviews! Haha! I hope I am not too negative about this. I mean I get it that there is a public for it, and people are asking. I do too sometimes. but I don't like it when it becomes all about the product reviews. I can't compare Europe to the US, since there are significant differences between different European countries and I have no idea about the US other than from hearsay. But what you described sounded very very exotic scenario for what I know 😊

I learned that if it's a sales job, it is going to be somewhat shady. I can't sell something that I don't 100 per cent believe in. Great drawing.

Same. I did manage to land a non-commissioned sales job way later and it was for a company whose products I totally believed in. Couple that with knowing I had no incentive to push anything anyone and it showed me how things SHOULD be if you go to buy stuff.

Everything that has to do with sales in a commercial industry has something shady about it. I have worked in sales for over 10 years and I am awefull at it. Selling stuff because you are oblicated to do so is just not my thing... Arnt paws just the best thing ever? They are cute, soft and fiersome!

Moadja Hendriks I’ve found that any job that has commission sales is pretty much inherently evil, but I did have one non-commission sales job that was arguably one of my best places of employment. Stayed there for 4 years and likely would have lasted longer if I hadn’t almost died while working. 🤷‍♀️ Wasn’t their fault, but being there wasn’t what I needed for my own health.

So true! In my opinion to be a good salesperson you have to be either a shady person or seriously unhappy and probably due for a mental breakdown from the guilt that's eating away at you.

I remember those agencies in Philly. They liked to stand on chestnut a few feet from the planned Parenthood people. I used to hang out with the planned Parenthood people to avoid the model sign up people. Brings back memories haha.

Hm. Didn’t know there were any in philly proper-the one I was at was in like Huntington valley or something and kinda remote, but yeah....it was hella shady. I realized that if the people in my department squeezed them for all they were worth and they couldn’t afford to buy their pics, the company essentially just stole all their money without giving them anything in return. It’s just awful.

@@MeowMeowKapow ouch! Yeah I can see it being super sketchy from both your side and the outside too. I've seen them all over the place when I went to school. They were super pushy. I did see similar scams in my own small town. They tried to get my brother but my mom read all the fine print and noped out of it before he signed anything. I think the went to NYC for it too. That was a lonnggg time ago though haha

Aww, your kitty is named Bubba? My family used to have a kitty with that name, (Well his original name was Harvey.) He was a sweet tempered, laid back black and white tuxedo front ragamuffin cat. We had him for a really good 18 years.
