It’s funny because your recruiter tells you to say nothing but some questions trick you up & it’s like are you asking me as a recruiter or a Meps guy 😅

The best thing I like about the MEPS phase is that I got a free in-depth physical done! I didn't stay in the hotel as I elected to drive from my house since it was 15 minutes away.

I just went meps yesterday in New York and it was a little different from this video. At the hotel in the morning they gave us a short briefing at the hotel with a video. Then when we got to meps they put us in two lines. one for shippers and one for deps. One of the leisons then gave us a short briefing telling us that we needed to put our personal belongings in a bin and go through the metal detectors. They didnt show us many videos at meps. Each event you needed to do we waited in line and we werent really allowed to talk. When we were done with the eye test, hearing, physical exam, drug test whatever you were doing at the time they told your to go to the next event. They would just rush us and hurry us up so they could get to the next person. When we werent doing a event we were either standing or sitting and waiting.Sometimes there directions weren't always clear and they would be rude and have no patience. They would get pissed whenever they had to repeat themselves. Not all of the staff and leisons were rude maybe like 40% of them. Others were nice. They were strict with us. Some people got yelled at for having hands in pockets or falling asleep. They treated us like we were marines. So it was good that we got a small taste of what its like. I got lucky and did the asvab and the physical in one day, got there at 5 and left at around 4pm. My best advice is listen carefully to what they say and pay attention to detail. Move fast and with a sense of purpose. If they are rude dont let them bother you. Meps isnt as bad as its made to be the only part that kinda sucks is the waiting.

MEPS used to be called AFEES. Armed Forces Entrance and Examination Station....or something like that. I went thru it in 1981 and this sounds like the same process I went thru. Definitely plan for a long day.

I just got my email this morning that my date is set for MEPS and when I saw that so much nervousness came over me. Thank you for this video.

The needs of the Military always come first. When you go to the MEPS for the first time to take your physical, it is there where you pick a job with a counselor if whatever branch you are joining, but it is only a guarantee if a spot in an A school that will train you for that job. After you finish that school, then they put you wherever they need you. Let's say that you go to an A school to train to be an Electronics Technician. After you finish that school, if they need a Culinary Specialist, you could end up in that job on whatever ship you are assigned to. If you are lucky, and puck a school to train to be an ET, if they need you in that job somewhere, you lucked out and got the job you wanted. When you go to MEPS for your physical, the day ends with you taking an oath of enlistment. Most of you then are only being sworn into the Delayed Entry Program. That is, after you pick your A school, it technical school, which could be filled anywhere from a couple of weeks to one year. Then the computer would tell you when to report back to MEPS to ship out, which could be several months away. When you do report back on that shipping day, you take another oath of enlistment, where you are officially sworn into the military. From the time you are sworn into the DEP, and the time you report back and get sworn in officially, you can still back out, but they do not tell you that at the recruiting office or the MEPS.

Hey man, I had eczema when I was a child and a doctor gave me asthma medication because he gave me an inhaler with steroids that boost your breathing but I never had chest pain or anything and I never used the Inhaler and im getting a waiver for the eczema and my physical paper work says I don’t have asthma should I mention this to my recruiter or no or should I say nothing while in MEPS?

I’ve smoked weed consistently for roughly about a year now . I’ve stopped smoking a month ago . I go to meps june 4th , I’m not worried about the urine test I’ve taken one a passed . But do they use blood work for drug test as well ? Because I’ve heard thc could be detectable for longer periods of time in blood especially in frequent users .
