Join us on an unforgettable two-week journey to Mequinenza, Spain, where our adventure was filled with surprises, charming village life, and the magic of the River Ebro. In this video, we explore this picturesque village, known for its friendly atmosphere and a vibe reminiscent of old Spain.
Our adventure began with great anticipation as we booked our first house, Casa Mequinenza, through Booking.com. The photos on the website showcased a spacious and comfortable home that promised a cozy retreat for our vacation. However, upon arrival, we were in for a surprise. Casa Mequinenza turned out to be divided into two small houses, and one of them was designated for our week-long stay. To our disappointment, the accommodations were far from what we expected, with uncomfortable furniture and minimal utilities. But despite this, the surrounding area was a sight to behold, with fruits and vegetables growing all around us.
In the second part of our Mequinenza adventure, we invite you to step into the captivating world of this quaint Spanish village. Mequinenza may be small, with approximately 2,400 inhabitants, but it's big on character. The village exudes a friendly, old-world charm that will transport you to a bygone era, where the spirit of community is alive and well. It's a place known for its excellent fishing on the River Ebro and delightful tapas in small cafes around the main square.
The third part of our adventure takes us into the second week of our stay when we rented Casa Rural Mas de les Àligues. Getting there was an adventure in itself, with a narrow road that ascended 400 meters, eventually turning into a dirt road that tested the limits of our ordinary car. But the reward was worth it. Casa Rural Mas de les Àligues was a beautiful country estate, offering all the perks of rural living. The highlight was the breathtaking view from the back of the house, overlooking the tranquil Balsa de Mequinenza.
Inside the house, we found spacious and comfortable accommodations that provided respite from the Spanish heat. The well-equipped kitchen allowed us to savor delicious homemade meals, and a small swimming pool provided the perfect oasis for cooling off during the scorching days. The property also came complete with a BBQ setup and a paella burner, along with all the necessary pans, giving us the opportunity to enjoy authentic Spanish cuisine.
While we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Casa Rural Mas de les Àligues, we couldn't ignore the adventure that awaited us when it came to shopping. The precarious road leading down to the village made grocery runs quite the endeavor, especially after dark. It was an experience in itself and added to the unique charm of our stay.
Join us as we continue to explore Mequinenza and the surprises it had in store for us. Our journey is a reminder that travel is as much about the unexpected adventures as it is about the planned ones. Be sure to like, comment, and subscribe to our channel for more travel tales, and stay tuned for the next part of our Mequinenza adventure, where we uncover even more hidden gems in this captivating Spanish village!
