This 1994 Mercedes-Benz (W140) S-Class, a S500 model, is currently for sale and listed here:
UPDATE: This car was initially erroneously listed as a 1997 model, but is in fact an earlier '94.

In this video I take this low-mileage, mint-condition S500 for a drive to find out whether it's finally reached modern classic status. This particular car has done less than 140 000km and is loaded with extras. Before hitting the market recently, this S500 had been in the same family for all its life. It really is like new inside! Hi Hannes great video and thanks for sharing. I have never driven a W140, it has always been one of the cars I have wanted to drive since I was a kid growing up in the era of the W126, but I have driven the W124 and that car was brilliantly built and over engineered and this is probably the same of the W140. It was the last S-class built from the Mercedes era of over engineering.

Great review, but it sounded like you didn't find the kickdown button. When you think you reached the floor, you press harder to press the kickdownbutton, then you will feel the pull. 😊

Is this really a 97? It looks pre-facelift. Maybe the years were handled differently in South Africa. White "supersizes" the car's appearance, dark exterior on dark interior is quite a different look. Having said that the white is extra imposing in person.

You are right Mr Arsenian !,.. fro. '95 and up ,. ... They Don't have those "sticks antenna ,.. for parking ,.. ( I have ' 93 , '94 Diesels , and s 500 ' 95 ,.the '95 does Not have parking antenna ,.. Iforgaot the name )...

I think I agree with you. The only question is whether SA followed the international changes immediately. This was the last generation S-Class built in South Africa. Spec-wise, however, you're right, it conforms to the earlier cars in that the indicator lights are amber and the lidded compartments in the front doors. We are trying to figure out exactly what the build year was.
