Best video on mb brake job! Thank you for giving torque specs but prefer ft lbs over nm and specs flash by a little too quickly. Look forward to more.

The fcp video on the c300 shows greasing up the guide pins so the caliper can slide. Why the difference? Good luck attempting this job on jack stands. I could not get enough clearance to use a breaker bar and those caliper bracket bolts are on very thight. This is a very helpful video. Would like see some w164 and r129 videos too.

Excellent video! Editing: what a concept! (I’m a retired editor :-))You should do a video on making videos! So many online videos are full of so much uneeded information and chitchat that I usually have to fast forward or run the video at double speed. Yours I had to keep replaying because it was so filled with information. Thank you for the torque specifications. Almost nobody else does that. Again, job well done. Thank you.

Why don't you retract the cylinders on the dash in service mode?
@Dubaday2 жыл бұрын
before you retract the piston back on the caliper, shouldn't you have the brake fluid reservoir open and watch it from over flowing while retracting the piston?
@fcpeuro2 жыл бұрын
Hi Randy, absolutely a great note. That is a good rule of thumb to follow on any vehicle with any brake job.
@MrDusa10 Жыл бұрын
Great video, however, why are some sites/videos saying that you need to use a scan tool to "retract the piston actuator" first? Is a scan tool necessary, and if you don't use one, does it set an idiot light on the instrument cluster?
@pappas10007 ай бұрын
You can do it on service mode in the dash.
@xImmortalxLegend3 ай бұрын
Yes make sure to do that first

Can I use the x166 Braket/caliper (this one on the vid) and swap it to a X164 ?, I want to use the 375mm drilled rotors instead of the 350mm solid one that comes in the 2008 GL550... Looks like the Braket holes are located at the same spot... Or.... Can I use only the 375mm rotors on the X164 caliper?... please help :)

Anti-seize on the hub face will lower the frictional contact between the rotor and the hub. This can lead to putting the lug bolts into shear (rather than tension that they are designed for). This is a very poor practice and could result in a "wheel off" while the vehicle is moving. If anti-seize is required the OEM would have used that when new. Please show us something in a factory manual, bulletin or TSB that states this is a requirement...
