The valve covers on the C350 have no gasket between the cover and the head. There is only a thin film of sealant used to seal up the top of the motor. The cover is also used to hold the cams in place and incorporate the journal for the cams. The covers are also not interchangeable with other heads so if you damage it while working on it you need to replace the head as well as the cover. For this reason USE great care!
The procedures for replacing the left and right side are very similar but do have a few differences that are pointed out below. You have to move different accessories out of the way depending on whether you are working on the right or left side.
If you remove the left valve cover you are going to be disconnecting the fuel line so the first step is to prep the car. I like to tell people to pull the fuel pump relay and then try to start the car. The car will turn over and then die. Do this about 2-3 times - it will help drain excess fuel out of your system. Also open the gas cap to help depressurize the system. Then, make sure that the car has cooled down; you don't want to be working with gasoline when the car is hot.
Have a fire extinguisher handy. There will be some spillage of fuel as it's nearly impossible to prevent. Also, wear chemical resistant gloves if you don't want to get any gasoline on your hands. Make sure that you have plenty of paper towels or rags to help you clean up. Perform the injector removal in a clear, open, and well-ventilated space. It may not hurt to have an assistant around in case there are any problems.
Again, the covers are also not interchangeable with other heads. If you damage it while working on it you cannot order a replacement cover and need to replace the head as well as the cover. Be very careful!

I have oil residue on ALL my spark plug threads, M272 2008 C350 / 85kmi, but decent cylinder compression (DRY/COLD: 165-179PSI + WET/COLD: 197-210PSI). Replaced a bad coil, about to do the infamous M272 intake manifold replacement. No clear other evidence of valve cover leaks, but would it be correct to conclude that the only way for oil to get onto (all) the plug threads, is if the sealant on the valve covers around the spark plug wells has given up the ghost due to heat cycling? Concern: 10 minute working time on that recommended sealant seems optimistic to achieve application, cover placement, plus torque of sufficient # of bolts quickly enough to ensure a good, reliable seal. I have everything removed for the I.M. replacement - grudgingly having to face the reality that now is the time to re-seal valve covers, if they need it. Ugh.

You could have leaking valve stem seals or rings. A leak down test would confirm rings are good. Leaving stem seals as culprit.

If i had a valve cover fail on me can i just replace the cover? Its on the exact same vehicle as in the video

You'll want to replace the cover and gasket.

I am not sure what the repair will cost in your area. Call a few shops and ask for a quote. It is also a good idea to have them confirm what the issue is.
