In this video I show you how to add Bluetooth Audio Streaming Capability to your dated Mercedes cheaply and easily. This video is applicable to all Mercedes Models with the MMI Plug for iPod from 2009 to 2014 and includes the following models; B, C, CL, CLS, E, S, SL, SLK, SLS, ML, GL, GLK, R, W Class.
Specifically I am demonstrating this on my 2011 ML300.

WOW! This is an amazing upgrade. Thank you so much for letting us all know. My car audio guy had no clue and told me I'd have to spend over $800 just to rewire the system in order to spend another $1000+ on a new system with BT for music. The stock speaker system is already great and this is just the solution for great audio quality through my phone! Also, I noticed that through the AUX outlet, there is an option to BOOST the volume, which I had been wanting for years! Again, thank you Drew! One question: Does keeping the device plugged in inside the glove box cause any battery drain?

Hi Mate, keeping the device plugged in will not drain your battery. Also, the only real limitation with this device is that your BT device is not fully integrated into the car (eg you cannot control your BT device from the car's steering wheel - change songs, etc) For the sake of the couple of thousand dollars that you have been quoted I personally see this as a really small price to pay and what I do is typically set a Spotify Playlist running on my phone anyway! Received mine using your link, thanks for providing that. I notice the blue light stays on constantly, at least I think it does. Is this normal? I just want to avoid a battery drain, although I highly doubt this product will do that as the HU is off anyway. Thanks again I've been looking for this solution since I bought the car a couple months ago!

the comand unit also has a factory bluetooth which is for only calls not audio streaming. My question is can you also receive and make calls from this mmi bluetooth adaptor seamlessly.

I mean in 2008 that did not exist when the unit was re desinged The thing is only bluetooth 3.0 and above are capable of streaming audio at decent quality without interruptions

Couldn't find the MMI port in the glove compartment of my 2009 MERCEDES-BENZ CLC200 CDI SE AUTO . I only saw an Aux port on the left.

Hi Joseph, sorry to hear that. As I understand it Mercedes had 3 different options for your car and unfortunately you must’ve got the Aux port. You will either need to use that port with a different adapter or go for a more expensive solution. Cheers Drew

Along with the aux port, there should also be an ipod 30 pin dongle. On my 2010 E350 coupe, there's an adapter which is split between aux (1/8") input & ipod 30 pin inputs.

Thank you for this video! I was able to connect it to my ML550. But for some reason i have no audio feedback? It says connected, everything is plugged in and connected correctly in bluetooth but no audio is being picked up, no matter what music app i use. Max volume on system and phone. @@lachielappas9138 Hi there yes i'm not sure if this will work for you but in order for my music to play i had to open Apple music on my iphone and that would start my music (i saved a free Apple music radio in order to play the music without paying for a subscription- for some reason my bluetooth doesnt auto detect from any other music application) from there i opened my main app for music which is spotify or youtube and this would play the music as well. If sometimes this doesn't work i pressed the power button to turn my interface off and turn it back on (the mercedes screen) and disconnect and reconnect to bluetooth (without turning vehicle off). I keep my bluetooth adapter in the glove box (there is a plugin there) and it always stays connected to my vehicle. Let me know if this works for you :)

Hi Jose, this device connects for Audio players. What you will find is your phone will setup two Bluetooth connections 1/ to the head unit for phone calls and 2/ to this device for audio/player. The command unit just seamlessly works it out such that when a phone call comes in it switches off the audio. I trust this answers your question? Cheers Drew

If you enter engineering mode in the command system, you can manually enable bluetooth audio. For some ungodly reason, bluetooth audio is integrated in the factory COMAND system, but you have to go in & manually enable it. It's otherwise hidden.

@@DrewFixIt it seems a little finicky...haven't tried it yet, but there's some good videos on it. Apparently, you have to disconnect your phone (if you already paired it for basic phone functionality), then enter engineering mode, enable bluetooth audio, then pair your phone back & "bluetooth audio" should appear on the list with radio, etc. That adapter you got is still cool though! Nice & simple!

Hi Tosin,I understand that it was option to install the extra cabling in some of the Vito’s. If the port is not I’m the glovebox then you will need to install the extra cabling to the back of the head unit! Cheers Drew

Hey man. Cannot for the life of me get this to work with my 2011 GL350. Bluetooth connects etc, no matter how high I crank the volume, still doesn’t want to play ball. In AUX mode, phone recognises it and Spotify can connect to it etc, nothing. Any ideas?

Hi! I have a similar adapter, but if it is plugged in, phone calls are problematic as I cannot hear them sometime. I have to unplug the devices to make reliable phone call! Does your's works good with phone calls? If you can make a phone call while plugged in, I will gladly buy one! Thanks!

@@DrewFixIt I goy iy and I did some tests. First call with Google Duo went well, as well as the first phone call. Then the second Duo call was a bit troublesome. The sound from was cutting sometime, as I could see him speaking,buy I would noy hear it. I did not yet have the opportunity to test another phone call. Will update if there is anything new.

Is not a good option. Music quality is very poor in special if you connect a amp and subwoofer. Also you need to use your phone to change songs becouse is not work from main unit
