Excellent step by step instructions, very well done. But you didn't mention that you had to cut away part of the plastic over the pin you want to remove (seen at 5:25 or so) in order to get it out. I had to do that also.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. Both brake lights are out on my wife's 2011 ml350. I replaced the bulbs, the left worked, then didn't work, then worked and then didn't work. I checked the bulb and it was fine. The right didn't work at all with the new bulb. I knew then there must be some other reason for the problem. Uggh. Mercedes should give us these kits!! I guess the up side is they aren't too terribly expensive.

Hi Keith, Love all your videos! I have a 2007 GL450 With the HID D2s headlights. The wiring harness that goes to the bulb is all cracked from the ballast and surrounding areas. Do you have a repair video for this or an upcoming video? Thanks for your great Video's!

If you have a bunch of those issues, check that the rear SAM module isn't getting wet. $500 part if it needs replaced.

This is an awesome video! Going to definitely try this on my 09 ML 350. My left tail is lighting the foglight when pressing on the brake... and says the tail is out. I'm guessing that issue will be fixed by this.

Do you know where you can get these upgraded tailgate harnesses? My left turn signal will flash quickly and the drivers console says left bulb dead. You replace the build and it eventually comes back. When it happens as you know you don’t have a turn signal. I guess pulling it all apart and look for corrosion. The bulb is powered and arcs against metal plate the bulb socket is screwed into. I don’t believe these are still available anymore.

You did a GREAT job of showing how to DIY , fix this brake light glitches. What I am wondering is , did you have to use the SAME kit A 164-826-00-07 for both sides? It showed in 2:02 and 15:43 , you have used the same kit... I tried looking for the other kit A 164-825-00-07 but I am having a hard time.. Any chance you can respond , if the same kit will work on both side?

I bought this kit but haven't installed it as my brake lights are fine. The issue I am having is the left reverse light not working and getting notified on the dash but the bulb is fine, all other lights work as they should I should be able to substitute this harness to use it on the reverse light as well, no? Are the red/purple power wires off the L/R main harness the same for reverse?

u didnt tell the true step from 5:15 on video, you skip some steps. what did you do with the socket? pin cannot come out easily.

What happened at 5:22... you obviously cut the plastic socket to remove the pin rather than push the pin out...

So my 2009 ml320 bltc has a board on the brake light with LEDs on it it doesn't have just a bulb do u or anyone here have a reference or video how to repair that?

So you have to fix their fuck up with a replacement part that you still have to modify even further. Crazy!!!

Hello, Thanks for the video. I installed both sides repair kit today and brake bulb issue is resolved. However, my license plate bulbs are not lighting up now. I tried with new bulbs as well but no luck. Do you think rear SAM is getting confused now due to the brake bulb repair kit? Scanner is reading code for the license plate as being short circuit.
