I was quite amused to find the huge plastic stem holder in the ML oil filter housing, its overkill

what a mess, I replaced the belt on the ML270 before it did that, 2 grooves were ready to shred off.

Look at how Mercedes-Benz crammed that V6 in the C series engine bay. No wonder the hose was in a silly place.

bloody modern car setup

Most of the oil filters I see are spin on, unless it's a replaceable element type from an older car/truck. The big diesels have replaceable element types though, even these days. I can't imagine the housing for one being made out of plastic, that just screams "Cheap Garbage" something that will eventually get baked to death by hot oil and fall apart.

Geez thats a nasty failure! And yeah cars of today have FAR TOO MUCH plastic in them!

How could you buy a car and not notice that belt!
@zx8401ztv9 жыл бұрын
Hmm no regular maintainance, you would have thought that the person owning that car would send it for a regular service, shame. It makes me wonder how many other things have been ignored for too long.

What is with all of the oil changes you do over there man? they all look horrible coming out lol. Does the heat there really take that much of a toll on it?
@postaldudemcdude61929 жыл бұрын
Probably not heat, as most cars get hotter than the ambient ever will. Most likely it wasn't changed, used wrong oil, Contaminated, or because of the foam, was overfilled and allowed contact with crankshaft.

That wasn't oil, it was treacle!! Looked old and burnt!
