Mercedes EQE 350+ DISTRONIC Active Distance Assist with Steering Assist. Traffic jam highway driving

Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ is equipped with Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Steering Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist. All these systems allow to drive in semi-autonomous mode in traffic jams and on highways (motorways). I made the real-life test (review) of it and checked how it works on public roads in regular conditions and different scenarios.

The basic functions of the systems in the Driving Assistance Package are included as standard for Mercedes EQE. The following are important highlights, available as part of the Driving Assistance Package Plus (included in the Premium Package or Premium Plus Package).
Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC
This intelligent system can maintain the preselected distance to vehicles ahead on all road types - motorway, country road as well as in the city. Special features:
- Predictive speed regulation ahead of speed limits
- Reaction at a driving speed of up to 100 km/h to stationary vehicles on the road
- Selection of DISTRONIC dynamics in MBUX, independently of DYNAMIC SELECT
- Adjustment of set speed and acceleration for maximum range
- With the Navigation with Electric Intelligence, the charging status at the destination or also at the intermediate charging point can be specified if desired when route guidance is activated. Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC then adjusts the acceleration behaviour and, if necessary, the cruising speed to meet this specification.
- The set speed at service stations is 50 km/h.
Active Steering Assist
This assists the driver in following the driving lane. Special features:
- Lane detection at low speeds additionally with 360° camera
- Significantly improved availability and performance on bends on country roads
- Improved lane centring on motorways
- Situation-specific off-centred driving (e.g. forming an emergency corridor, but also following the road edge on country roads with no centre marking)
Active Lane Keeping Assist
From speeds above 60 km/h, Active Lane Keeping Assist uses a camera to detect when road markings or road edges are crossed, helping the driver to avoid leaving the driving lane unintentionally. If there is a risk of collision with detected road users in the adjacent lane, for example overtaking or oncoming vehicles, the system can also intervene. Special features:
- Reaction to detected lane edges, e.g. a grass shoulder
- Particularly intuitive steering intervention
- Adjustment of sensitivity via a menu (early, medium, late)
- Supplementing the danger display with the aid of the active ambient lighting and DIGITAL LIGHT.
Active Emergency Stop Assist
Active Emergency Stop Assist brakes the vehicle to a standstill in its own lane if it recognises that the driver is no longer responding to the traffic situation for a longer period. As part of the standard Active Lane Keeping Assist, this works even if Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC with Steering Assist is not switched on. Other features:
- Belt tensioning and braking impulse as a final signal of impending braking action
- Optional single lane change (at 80 km/h, no obstacles in adjacent lane)

Witaj, na pewno miałeś okazję to sprawdzić - jak porównasz działanie systemów do BMW, w szczególności jeżeli pamiętasz działanie w X5 czy w iX? Ogólnie jakbyś miał czas napisać jakiekolwiek odczucia :) Jestem przed test drive, ale wiadomo - nawet po 2 tygodniach ciężko jeszcze poznać wszystko. Dzięki! (aktualnie jeżdżę X5 więc to wiem jak działa, Mercedesem nigdy nie jeździłem). Więc w zasadzie to opinia na każdy możliwy temat jest ciekawa!

A jak działa właśnie na X5? Bo tez rozważam X5 vs XC90 vs GLE/C :) I patrzę na euroncap XC90 ma najlepsze wyniki zidentyfikowania pojazdu z przodu. i na tym video było widać jak jeden raz kierowca musiał nagle hamować bo Mercedes nie wyłapał samochód. I czytałem ze na BMW DAP może sam nagle tez wyłączać się.

Ech, te systemy rozpoznawania znaków, niby jest coraz lepiej, ale do ideału nadal nieco brakuje, jak chociażby to 90 przez kilka km po wjeździe na ekspresówkę, albo ta 40tka na łuku… w sumie to testując auta w różnych krajach, czy uważasz, że zagranicą takie systemy działają lepiej? Chodzi mi o to, że w innych krajach ograniczenia prędkości są jednak generalnie odwoływane znakiem niż przy skrzyżowanie… no i oznakowanie w naszym kraju nie należy do najbardziej udanych ;))

Rzeczywiście, to wykrywanie ograniczeń w takich Niemczech czy Hiszpanii działa nieporównywalnie skuteczniej.

I use both a EQS and and old Model X. Company cars. Currently Tesla is better for highway and most city drives. But in some area Mercedes is better. We have narrow roads in some cities here in Europe. For those Mercedes is slightly better. For construction sites Tesla is way better. (I don't have FSD here in EU). Mercedes behaves like Tesla behaved in the early days. So you have to watch out for road markings leading into concrete separators.
