What am I talking about?
My topic is the KE-Jetronic injection system which I try to demystify as much as I can.
For all of you to understand the system in brief - Developed in 1973 and being mounted into cars up to 1993 as it went in history. But why these to letters!?(KE) K(from German "kontinuierliche Einspritzung" meaning continuos injection, without interruption) the MECHANICAL injection system on which the fuel starts flowing from the fuel tank sucked by the FUEL PUMP and delivered to the FUEL DISTRIBUTOR which sends fuel to the INJECTORS while the majority of it flows through the FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR through its return line back to the fuel tank again. The letter E(elektronische Gemischanpassung/electronically controlled mixture adaptation) has to mark the electronic sensors (the developement starting from early eighties) which had to inform the ECU about the current state of the engine so that the ECU(Electronic Control Unit) then could create current signal in mA(miliampers) and send it to four crucial components for the system - the EHA(the electro-hydraulic actuator, a unit consisting of a magnet, an electromagnet and a baffle plate) which had to fine tune the engine in each of its phases, the ICV(the idle control valve), the unit which was predicted for the engines perfect idle, the X11(the diagnostic socket) where the duty cycle(the ideal mixture) was adjusted and the X11/4(the code reader) - the socket which from any codes were read if present using an OBD1 scanner.
An extraordinary injection system which could be fully repaired in your own garage using a multimeter and a pressure gauge only for its fine tuning, together with some common tools.

Thank you very much, Ivica! Your videos helped to save a friend's 190E that simply "decided" not to run! It took a lot of work (we had to mount and dismount the fuel distributor 43 times to adjust the fuel flow!) but nowadays it is running superbly. Thank you very much!

I just rebuild my 260se fuel distributor yesterday but unfortunately is leaking fuel out of the 6 ports with the fuel pump jump started and no matter how far I turn the mixture screw the fuel keep leaking although I noticed leaks less when it’s very far counter clockwise almost until end. Plunger is not stuck, diaphragm and o rings are new, fittings are on correct ports, I can’t understand what is wrong here as I rebuild very carefully and exactly the same as I did in a w124 few years ago and worked perfectly. I disassembled and checked twice and everything looks fine. Do you have any more suggestions I should check? or possibilities why this happened? Thanks 🙏

Ok found out what the problem was. The control plunger nut depth. Everyone says it should be at around 0.58mm or 0.6mm depth but in my car it will leak fuel out of the 6 ports. I had to set it to 0.3mm depth that way the fuel stopped leaking. Not sure why in this time was different. Maybe the control plunger is a little bit different or something. Now next step is to check the fuel quantity at each ports during 1min. (Update: That plunger was warped if I rolled in my hand I can see the slight deformation and I suspect that’s why gas was leaking. I replaced it with another one and now I can set the nut to the correct 0.58mm depth and no problems since.

There is no difference. The only difference is that there are two types of M102 distributors - for the systems KE1, KE2 and KE3. They are not compatible with the airflow meters, so that's why there must be a good reason to change the distributors because they don't EVER have to be replaced, they CAN NEVER GO bad! I will make a video on this topic once I finish with the warm up regulator!
