I Applaud your effort in Making this video. From what I can see, just because of the Location, this is already a Very Frustrating and difficult Job (even though you said it ain't bad) But We all know it is. Your patience and ability to get in that tight space to make a video this long and clear is nothing but pure bravery. Thank you sir.

One trick I used for some of the hard-to-reach bolts was using a flexible magnet stick to get them started. Seat them, turn them until they thread, and finish with your socket or whatever. Not a complicated job, but still not one I would want to do on the regular. Patience and thoughtfulness will get you through it.

I replace the centrifuge and the hose too. Seen plenty fail, if I’m going that deep I’m just going to do it all. Do it right do it once. Also, the centrifuge bolt is left hand thread

Honestly impressive camera work showing really hard areas to see. I'm in the middle of replacing cam adjusters and this video helped me get that damn bracket removed. Hope the rest to remove the valve cover isn't as hard. Thanks 👍

I did the same work also replacing the centrifuge, the issue is that now the car whistles when you turn it on/off and also when soft accelerating and getting back to idle, if you try to hear where this whistle came from it is over the area of the new oil separator cap. Any idea what can that be? thinking it could be defective, I installed a FEBI cap, have look all over the internet nobody has report this issue.
@glasser28198 ай бұрын
sounds like the new separator diaphragm's defective. The video says to replace centrifuge if you have too much vacuum because seal wears a lip into the spinning centrifuge.

I have changed again the separador cap for a genuine Merc and all Good and working perfect. Thank you for taking time replying!!!!!

At What Mileage does this need to become a concern/need to be replaced?

@@E39M5SPEED Sheez! That Close of an Interval? That's a lot of work for a part Placed in a very difficult spot. So Much Unnecessary Parts that don't need to be Removed just to get access to it. The E350 is easier because there's room, but cant say that on a Smaller C Class. I'm At 83K Miles On My E350, Not Sure if it's Ever Been Replaced Before it came to My Possession. And Just Over 100K On My C300. I don't have any Issues/Performance Issues yet on any of them, But ever since learning of this Mess of a maintenance, It Worries Me Daily and Feels like a Ticking Time Bomb every time I start/drive the car. I actually found this out when I started watching videos on PCV to learn about where its Located and how the Hoses/Lines run/connect because I'm trying to find a way to install a Catch. I knew I had to do it ASAP because I just got a C350 and I'm putting it together I have the Intake off and I saw the amount of Nasty Gunk baked on valves and car only has 51K Mines. I Was shocked. That's a lot of Deposit for a Car with such low Mileage. So now, Seeing that most of all the breather lines have a clip-on style connections I don't know how that'll even be possible. Now It makes sense why I couldn't find not even ONE video or Post of Installing a catch can on one of these 3.5's anywhere, even though it's something that would greatly benefit these engines.

What symptoms did the vehicke have to point to the oil seperator?
@E39M5SPEED3 ай бұрын
An. Oil. Leak. Rear of engine.

I've already done this job 20k miles ago (2 years ago). Yesterday, I noticed the oil on the dipstick is on the lower side after 5k. Also has some oil near the transmission bell housing. Was thinking possibly the rear main seal, but starting to suspect the oil separator again.

I'm looking at the video and I can't understand the reason why its necessary to remove the part you called High Pressure Fuel Pump.. ? Seems to be high and out of the way enough that you can reach down and remove the Breather/Oil separator w/o removing the pump.. ? Is the High pressure fuel pump blocked in by/directly on the Oil separator that warrants removing it? I would thin that After removing the bracket with sort of houses them both, the Oil separator should be removed on its own... ??? 🤔🤔🤔🤔

Good luck getting Oil Sep out without removing HPFP. BTW I was doing this job after a tech that used to work there claimed he replaced the part but he never did lol

@@phigo4kins yeah there is a bunch of crap you need to remove. The most pain in the ass part is that metal bracket. Honestly it was funny when Alldata quoted this like 2.5 hours ago I billed like 5 or 6 hours of if I remember correctly. If I was to do it again I’d bill 8.

It’s too hard to replace an oil separator just every 20000 mile. I think it is a manufacturer’s big design fault.
