I believe in having multiples of the same tools, but you probably don’t want to keep them in the same place. It becomes clutter.

¡WOW Lou, That was a Terrific Freaking Tour of your TOOLBOX, brother. Thanks! It sure was nothing like the soup-to-nuts INTRO we got as part of our training in vocational high school 😂! I like how your feature presentation was on Olsa socket holders, and then how you magically turn things around and start showing and teaching us right from your box…from the NEAT to IMPRESSIVE “do-dat” tools (without which a job would be far more difficult if not impossible!) to your MacGuyvered pliers to that awesome Stanley Rotating Ratchet Drive… I gotta get me one of those!!! Oh, and that deep mystery drawer…When you first opened that thing, I swear I think I saw a beam of lights and heard celestial voices singing from above 😂😂😂! Hub sockets and Old school drain plug TOOLS…I thought I was in Kansas 🤣🤣🤣 without Toto😮!!! ¡What you expect from a GKlasse owner and enthusiast, with a 1987 w460/280ge, in the Caribbean😂😂! Anyway…thank you very much for the Tool Box Tour! Stay Humble and Nimble on your feet! I like your speedy replies to @jamher and @datdamndavisboy…love it😂!!! And please keep us posted of your collaboration with MWTR…. Peace.

I’ve used nearly every socket tray & rail design on the market in the past 6yrs, and with that, I still came back to the Hansen design. The Olsa Tool trays are awesome, and while you might not believe it, I actually proposed the 3-row design to them a couple of years ago. I wanted them to stand out against Mechanics Timesavers, and no one else had a 3-row design on the market. What I found after getting my set was, they take up a significant amount of spacing. I have a fairly large socket drawer, but if you’re the guy who has a ton of verging sockets, you need space. These sets are great when you’re working with complete sets of sockets, but if you’re not, then I don’t recommend them. The logic is the same with the Hansen or any socket organizer with pre-defined sizing, however the overall foot print of the Hansen trays are much smaller than Olsa Tools. In general, I know I’ll look at others as they hit the market, but for now, it’s Hansen all the way!

@@MasterTechLou hey, thank you for responding to my comment. I’ve been following you for a while, and I love your content. I’ve learned a lot from your channel. This was a great review of the Olsa Trays, and I like that you pointed out the spacing between the sockets, as well as the socket well itself having too much room…I suppose they did that to accommodate both chrome and impact designs, but it does seem excessive… As for cross-collaboration; you name the time and place and I’m all for it. It would be an honor, truly! I have some cheaper scanners, and would love to get a professional, or even a semi-professional grade and have someone help me understand the logic and use. Nonetheless, let me know if you’d like to collaborate and I’m you’re guy.

@@MasterTechLoubreaking strength test of 3/8 ratchets consistently show between 210 and 290 foot pounds. A 19mm bolt with any corrosion takes the ratchet beyond a third of it's breaking strength. 19mm on 3/8 is a no - no. 19mm should be half inch ratchet. I have no idea why sets include it. It's stupid. And like you said, 1/4 sets should be 4mm through 10mm. 11mm is already borderline too big , probably fine...... But 12mm is 100 percent too big.

That’s a really pretty box. I’m just a hobbyist with a tool habit. Lol Also, it’s cool to see the Merc as I’ve considered finding a low miles older CL55. I am totally with you on the flex heads. And as I recall, the old Craftsman ratchets were 36t, even my beloved 3/8 11” polished tear drop. I quit using my old USA Craftsman mostly because I can’t replace them. They’d hand me back some piece that just isn’t the same. Now, that said, their new V series stuff is decent. Thanks for the tip on the E Torx. I have some Snap On stuff. But a LOT of Gearwrench. I love that little Icon kit. Looking forward to them adding sockets. It would be even better with a few appropriate wrenches and a driver handle. On the Jeeps, I regularly used a half inch drive. Frequently even a breaker bar. Though I did use a 24” 1/2” ratchet on a long Pittsburgh 14mm combo wrench to break a Nissan Frontier driveshaft bolt loose. It was utterly ridiculous.

For Chevy LS engine 8mm rocker arm bolts I used to use a 1/2 inch drive and six point socket as they would snap 3/8 drive sockets. I switched to 3/8 impact 8mm on a battery impact drive. It’s a weird bolt though. I’m lucky with my Craftsman warranty in Eugene Oregon as the Jerry’s hardware store stocks the sockets and will do the exchanges. Thanks for doing the video. I’m building out a new Harbor Freight cart and having fun with it.

I have and used the Olsa Tools 1/4 and 3/8 socket organizers. They were pretty good but there were some cons...they take up more space than some other options and a bit less than others. They have some unusual sizes that are hard to find in many brands, such as 1/4x4.5mm, 1/4x20mm, 1/4x5/8, 3/8 x 15/16, and 3/5x1". I had to buy a variety off brands to fill it out. I did not like the way the shallow and deep stacked from different ends, as that made it harder to find the correct size in the shallow ones as the numbers are hard to reach on that run when the trays are close together. In the end I wend gucci with the TBW modulars. They are pricey and have a few cons, too, but were the best solution for my needs.

I'm still using the Hansen style drop on socket racks like you have, also? A few posts have snapped off, but really like that style the best? Also have the large metal rack with the old school steel socket holders, but they are pretty good for sockets you don't use as often? The MTS plastic magnetic 1/4" lay-down socket rack is one of my favorite for only 1/4" shallow SAE and MM sockets?

For extensions storage options...go creative. Hit an office supply store, look for a modifiable desk organizer...made for pencils, paper clips etc....should be able to separate by lengths that way.

For craftsman the warranty has been nothing but easy as long as you know what to do. If you dont care about giving up a broken USA for a Chinese or Taiwan tool and your local store has the same item you need, you can swap from shelf at lowes or ace. (Once Lowes only had a torx screwdriver set where a local ace had single torx drivers so I had to go to Ace for a rounded T15) If there isn’t an option to swap at a store you can also text a number now amd just take a picture of ur tool and get one sent out. Just something to think about since I’ve already done plenty of testing for their warranty at this point…
@MasterTechLou

Thanks for that, just sucks trading in tools that have worked for 20 years for Tools that may not work for 2. They gave me a proton swivel 13mm which I barely use because the flex part is too long so The socket jams. Just sucks that craftsman went the way they did.

Its hard to explain, I guess its like when your first car is a ford, you stick with ford and might drive a chevy. But you have no idea what a toyota is or a volvo because its not common around your area. Thats what its like for me and all these tool brands. I started with craftsman and pretty much only ventured out when I had to. Now that im kind of in the creator realm, im now experiencing so many more Options and finding there are some hidden gems out there. Im not brand loyal, I use what works. And what appeals to me visually and whats cost effective. Youll never catch me spending 300$ on screwdrivers from snap on. But I will spend $300 on something that makes the job easier and quicker. There are some tools id love to own but can’t justify the money just because of a want. My brain wont let me 🫣🥴🥴

From what I’ve understood, they are now making ergo handles and different colors as it sells more. Its amazing how just adding options will generate more sales. Insane if you look at every one out there they are making so many different colors all to sell more products. I mean nothing wrong with that, but hard to think they have our best interest in mind 😂

Hey, Lou, have you ever made a vid on fuel pressure regulators, injectors and other fuel system related stuff. My 99 CL500 (M119) is not holding fuel pressure after shutting the car down. Climbs and holds at 50psi or so, but as soon as I shut off the car, the pressure drops like a ton of bricks. Car is also misfiring and smells like fuel. Wastes a lot of gas too. NO check engine light on. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Hey thanks for hanging with me! If memory serves the m119 had a check valve in the fuel line near the filter. But if misfiring and smelling of fuel may have sticking open injector(s) and or fuel pressure regulator thats leaking through the vacuum/vent line. Initial thoughts.

There’s a problem with all the magnetic socket holders like Mechanic Time Savers. My Snap-on 1/4 inch dr chrome set goes to 15mm! My 3/8 Snap-on impact set includes the 21 and 22mm - there’s no room for it on those type socket holders. Why I switched to Ernst socket rails. With those fixed socket rails, even if you drill the holes out for impact sockets, there’s no room for all my sockets and no room to grow. The MTS or Mechanic Time Savers which are the USA made originals have not been updated in a couple of decades. All those other 1001 company brands on Amazon are copying an obsolete outdated product!

I definitely get it. I spent the last 15 years getting the basic hand tools. Over the past year, i’ve started replacing my stuff with tool truck tools. I have a set of snappy flank drive plus combo wrenches that I got at the start. Heavy use. Almost no wear for the mileage. Same with my knipex cutter. Same heavy duty use. They still cut paper clean. I struggle financially just like most others, but i’d rather do without until I can afford the best option. I don’t want a future where I can’t walk out to a snapon truck, so I will continue to buy from them any chance I can get. Same with MAC and Cornwell. Thanks for sharing.

@@joshbrown1381 stay tuned for my millionaire mechanic video. I once struggled as well. I shifted my way of approaching working on cars. I am not well off by any means, but money is no longer a concern of mine. Will be a few months before I can release that video but I aim to help people in every way I can.

I have zero clue why you felt the need to Comment. You dont like something , its simple, stop watching. Not every video is for everyone and I am ok with that. You need to be too.

You lost all credibility when you said you have seen newer Craftsman and china freight outlast Snap On sockets. That's a complete joke to put those sockets agains Snap On.

For the record, I said absolutely nothing about newer, craftsman, newer craftsman are junk. And I don’t know how I can lose credibility when I literally have the sockets in my toolbox for almost 20 years.

Had a tech round out the drive end of a 1/2" drive snap on socket last week removing a drive shaft ( big trucks ). It was a snap on impact as well. My HF sockets have been going for 15 years now no replacements and if they did it's just down the street. Pretty good for 20$ for a whole set.

I am paid by no one that I have featured in any of my videos. Thanks for assuming that you have any knowledge of what happens on my end. I do these videos to help people. You dont like it, fine. You like it, fine. But I am paid by no one for any product.
