no one has mentioned another option. I hate power windows and went to a junkyard and pulled all 4 Manual assemblies off an old 123 and pulled my power ones out of my 1984 Wagon and now I have working manual windows which are smooth. It was essentially just a bolt up.

Nicely done! There was a guy who had some luck water jet cutting those regulator parts. Perhaps it may be worth doing?

My rear windows go up and down fine, they just sound like machine guns once rolled up. Apparently the gears are worn on the top section!
