Maybe I can shed some light on the improvisation thing. As someone who plays 7 different instruments and spent 45 years of my life on stage or in studios i can say that most great songs come from jamming and working around a basic idea. Speaking for myself and probably most musicians the notes enter ones head a split second before one plays them or no thought or planning happens at all, it simply happens. A lot of classical musicians struggle with this because they're so used to taking instructions from sheet music and conductors that without the instruction manual and instructor they find it impossible to be spontaneous. Many songs are created by someone playing a riff in the rehearsal studio and everyone just joining in.......a song is born. ✌️♥️🇬🇧

A reaction is not only and necessarily through words ! When no words can describe your feelings, let your body express your feelings by himself, it's so beautiful, don't be embarrassed about it ! My eyes are still often blurred with tears when i listen Pink Floyd and/or David Gilmour... A 65 years old Pink Floyd fan, since Meddle in 1972... Greetings from France

If I could give y'all two thumbs up, I would!! Thank you for reacting to this song!! Beautiful song! One of my favorites!! They played off each other like they have esp. Gilmour always loved Richard & stuck up for him when the bully Roger Waters would come after him with his negativity, and I respect that! RIP Mr. Richard Wright

As a Songwriter / Musician myself . Usually when you first get an idea you can usually hear it and maybe hear what the rest of the instruments are doing too , So it's all about getting the sounds that are already there in your head. You also have to know your instrument too. :) Love all the Floyd Reactions , Don't be afraid to react to their early stuff with Syd Barrett , Lucifer Sam is a great one and Julia Dream. x

I believe David Gilmour always cared deeply for Richard Wright as if he were his little brother in a way. There is a video called The Barn Jam Session series. There is a part on one of those sessions where Richard is really enjoying himself with the music they're playing and David commented on that, saying in a way that he was glad to see Richard enjoying the moment. David Gilmour has a strong character but seems like a good friend to the ones close to him.

I would like to recommend 2 more songs that orient around David and Rick. The first is a live performance from David's 2002 meltdown concert at RAH, where Rick jopined David to play one of Rick's songs from his heart breaking solo album. The song is called Breakthrough, and it is beautiful and worth your time, imo. Actually, the entire concert is beautiful. The second song is called A Boat Lies Waiting, off David's most recent solo album Rattle that Lock. The song is a lament for the passing of his of his friend and musical partner Rick. The live version is lovely, but the version from the album is the one to listen to first. So simple, powerful and full of mourning.

Richard Wright é a sustentação do Pink Floyd. O teclado de Wright sempre deu suporte, criou a atmosfera inconfundível do Pink Floyd em seus maiores sucessos. Beleza e melancolia. Suavidade. Para mim, é o nome nunca devidamente reconhecido da banda. Assina grandes sucessos como US and Them, Great Gig in The Sky, Shine on You Crazy Diamond, Time, mas nunca foi efetivamente reconhecido por sua brilhante contribuição. Pink Floyd é mais que a soma de suas partes

Maybe this helps: music making is musicality you have and feel what you play, it comes up out of you, Then combined with musical skills you have you build step by step a song and then perfect it. When you realize making an album takes easily 1 to 2 years or even more, 5,6 till 12 years then i guess you get the point.

The music part of this song is sweet, I don’t know another word to describe it. None of the instruments are over bearing, the gentleness of the music allows the listener’s emotion to grab ahold of the lyrics and become part of the song. Then it’s your song, they gifted you a beautiful song that you are a part of. If they weren’t musicians, they would make really good psychologists, they understand human emotions.

I enjoy your PF reactions so much, and you are such a great couple, very similar to my wife and myself. David and Richard truly were great friends in life as general, as well as in their musical bond. I agree with other comments that you should do the live Gdansk version of 'Echoes" for the reasons given. It is also so totally different to the Pompeii version that you are halfway through that it won't matter that you do both versions....believe me. There are some great documentaries on Gilmour that will give you greater insight to how he makes his nusic. You know the saying "behind every great man is a great woman".....very true in this case. Look at "David Gilmour - Wider Horizons". Cheers!

Great reaction to a beautiful song. This song is so much more poignant if you know the backstory to it. By all accounts, Richard was the most sensitive and shy member of the band, which made him Roger's favorite target as his ego exploded in the late 70s. He effectively took Richard's voice away and shattered his confidence, eventually giving the others an ultimatum leading to Richard being fired from the band in 1979. Once all the uncertainty surrounding the band in the early to mid-80s started to lift, David brought Richard back into the fold as a supporting member (he couldn't legally rejoin the band until later) for the A Momentary Lapse Of Reason album. This song was written by Richard for the next album, The Division Bell, and is basically about him voting out of the depths and darkness, getting his confidence and voice back due to the help of David and Nick bringing him back to where he belonged. If you read the lyrics with this in mind, it's quite a journey. As for another recommendation, please do Fat Old Sun from this same Remember That Night concert. It's an old Pink Floyd song from 1970 slightly updated and the first time I heard David's solo for this version, it immediately skyrocketed to a spot in the top 5 Gilmour solos, and that's saying something. Hopefully you see this and give that one a reaction. Love watching you two! Keep it up!
