Football is a huge, global product, probably the biggest entertainment product in the world. Why shouldn't the stars of the show receive a proportionate level of income? I've never understood this argument at all. Sure, the games and streaming packages are too expensive and there's lots of dodgy corruption and advertising and stuff. But the players should of course earn a good portion of what the clubs do. If somebody wants to pay you 300k a week then they obviously see it as being worth it. Let them do it.

To answer the question, in a word? YES! YES Football has gone mad, and some wages are now vulgar IMO? He can play football really well, but he's 36yrs now and he's definitely been on a downward trajectory for about the last 2yrs or more. The package he'll receive from Inter Miami and MLS is just eye watering and its not even incentive based? He doesn't have to win anything or score goals or assist goals? He just has to turn up, basically? It puts me off the game that ive loved all my life. I was a Man City fan from about 4yrs old, but I went to my 1st game at 8yrs old. I went to Maine Rd for years and in my teens and early twenties I went home and away watching Manchester City and we weren't very good in those days. No UCL then, infact we played a few years in the 2nd and 3rd division in those days. However I felt part of something, my club and the other men I went to games with, were like an extended family to me. The players had a good lifestyle and rightly so, but it was understandable etc. Whereas now the players are multi millionaire's before they're 20yrs old. They have nothing to do with the life I live. I struggle to find a connection to these players. However it won't change and go backwards, so I will have to get used to it I guess? Or go to a lower league of football, Salford fc are nearby to me.

Yea for sure ronaldo is the most marketable footballer in the world. He has the personality, commercial appeal, looks, and language skills to be marketable across the world. Messi is a talented footballer, but he doesn’t have much going for him outside that in terms of marketability Beckham was huge in America because of his commercial appeal. I highly doubt anyone in America will blink twice at Messi if they don’t already follow the game, especially if he doesn’t do talk shows and interviews lol

Sport pay and remunerations have become a huge bubble, it was an unsustainable bubble, that is untill the Saudi`s and Middle East made their moves, so that bubble has now expanded massively, and will only burst, causing absolute chaos to the individual sports they are hoovering up, golf, boxing, Horse racing and right now, football clubs, will only burst as and when these middle eastern countries either gets bored , or when decide to take their washing machines and go in other directions...Football in particular has become an arms race between the Middle Easter Countires as well, Quatar, Oman, Kuwait, UAE, Abu Dhabi etc...Think PSG, Man City, Newcastle...they will agressivly go after the debt lades Real Madrid, Barca, Many U, Juventus etc etc...probaly eventually getting most of the elite clubs, ultimatly then creating their own European Super league run by the middle east...everyone has a price, especially when they are weak via huge debts.
