#donnielaws #metaldetecting #appalachia Went searching for history around some really old big timber in these Tennessee woods. So relaxing being in the deep woods and seeing nature. Cool air has moved in and the woods are turning so beautiful. God bless and thanks for watching. NOTE: I am using a Equinox 600 by Ninelab and a Garrett pro pointer. Good morning Donnie. Some real finds. I like the oldest production periods the best. (1897-1901, 1911-1914 & 1910-1927 long range). The condition of those old caps is incredible. Thanks for sharing your hard-work and adventures. 💯 Have a great day, sir. 🙂

What an amazing day in the woods my friend and truly some cool finds...the shotgun shells really intrigue me as a snapshot into the past...have to think the very old ones the hunters were out collecting food to feed their families and like my Uncles growing up during the depression no doubt became expert marksman because shells were hard to come by...they would tell me of the peddler that would come through ridge and they would swap rabbit and squirrel pelts for a box of cartridges. Amazing how they lived back then and every time you are out among the timber I think of them and those treasured memories. Appreciate you sharing your amazing adventures with us and you bring lots of joy to us all. Thank you my friend and many more wonderful days hunting this fall.😊🇺🇸😇🐈🐺🦨🐿️🦃🍂🦌

I was thinking along the same lines. A family needed fresh meat and with winter coming on they must have been very busy hunting for their daily and winter stash. My grandma used to can meat in these big mason jars. She had 11 children to feed at one point and time in raising her family. My mom did some canning but purchased fresh meat from a butcher shop. Or spam and bologna 🤣😂😅😂🤣😂 Then a knew era of how we purchase and prepare for our family meals changed thanks to TV dinners 🤢 and Spam and Wonder bread. Then peanut butter and jelly became the number one go to for a sack lunch. With a fresh piece of fruit and a nickel for a half pint of milk. Unless you come from a family of hunter's you don't know what really good eatings those woods are full of.

I remember growing up dad had an old single barrel shotgun and he’d go every afternoon to get meat, we survived on what dad killed, we were very poor but we kids didn’t know it. Mom bless her heart could make squirrel stew and rabbit stew we all loved. I have no desire to go back to those days, but that’s how it was, you didn’t get game you went hungry.

I watch a couple of other channels that look for the remanence of old homes and forgotten graves in the woods. They always look for big timbers because areas around homes and cemeteries would not have been logged or cleared for fields. They also look for plants that don't belong, such as daffodils. It makes sense that metal detecting around old homesteads would lead to treasures.

Thanks for taking us along on another adventure, brother Donnie. Better part of 40 years ago, I was groundhog hunting on my daddy-in-law's farm in Logan County, KY, with my S&W .357 magnum. I stepped into the edge of the woods, hunting holes, and a tiny fawn walked right up to me, so precious! That's a fond memory, for sure! ❤ Wishing you and yours a great rest of the week, my brother, and G-d bless y'all richly! Please pray for the peace of Jerusalem, brother, and Psalms 91.

Two fawns and their mom walked up about 15 feet from me when I was looking at a bunch of Indian mounds in the Louisiana woods. The mom watched as the babies walked over and sniffed me. I`ve seen them attack dogs over their babies but they were all calm. I tried to pet one of them and they ran back over to her and slowly walked away.

22 short's aren't used much anymore. If we couldn't find rat shot we'd get the 22 short for shooting rats at the corn crib. The corn crib was about 100 yards from granny's house and she wouldn't let us use long or long rifle cartridge thinking the shorts wouldn't hit her house if we missed our target. Bless her heart we done the right thing and never told her any difference. Thanks for the show. God Bless. NW ga.

I saw the deer eyes immediately. They sure are sneaky though. I had a mama doe that lives here trying to get my garden peas in June. But I had a driveway alarm set up. I thought the friendly bunny triggered it and scared the deer half to death when I threw open my camper door and hollered, "NO BUNNY!" The deer nearly jumped over the trees when she took off.

Couple of things this time, Mr. Law. I haven't seen a 22 short. And I don't know how long I have an old Winchester. That shoots 22 shorts long and long rifles. But I haven't seen shorts and forever in the day. You got a real keeper there. And second. Peters is my favorite one like I've said before. I think they're like, a little piece of art. And in that tree, massive and beautiful.

Great! I still been watching but haven't commented in a while. We have them old shells down here in the southwestern part of the state. Lots of history around alright! Found a civil war horse bridle rosette while back about 1 3/4" across. I have that same pinpointer. Been using garrett ace 200 a while but now I'm waiting on my new minelab. I'll be sharing some your stuff along as I share mine with folks. I been out there in the hills and hollows all my life. I remember where I came from and would definitely live my days growing up again if I only could! Lots of folks will never know our style here in old Tennessee. Some days during deer season I would take a break from deer hunting if I had not been seeing any deer lately and go small game hunting or metal detecting. If you want to see deer go in the woods with a 22 rifle or a metal detector. Thanks for another great video.

It surprises me how often I'm correct about the age of the shotgun shells you find. Guess it just comes from being around my daddy as a kid, and him going through all his hunting gear, shells, etc. For 59 years. I always was a very observant kiddo, just never could bring myself to kill anything - but I surely would eat it! I love wild game-meat. I'll try anything.

You can definitely tell fall is coming. Leaves are starting to change and you’re wearing long sleeves lol. Good finds with many different shells. I’d say you had a good day. You have me very interested with the metal detector. Might have to get me one. Stay blessed and safe. 😊🙏🏼❤️🍁🍂🍁

Love those old shotgun shells! I see you finding a few of those 30 caliber bullets, has me wondering what exactly it is. .35 Remington? .32 of one of the many different caliber in the late 1800s - 1900s? Some calibers we've mostly forgotten about? Definitly looks like an older bullet though! Stay safe!

That place you are going around the big poplar tree used to be a farm they had a field where your standing sir. The big poplar is a Tulip Poplar tree. It’s not as old as we think. The grow fast in them old fields. I say if it was being cut down it would have some of the prettiest colors in it.
