I've also "not really been into musicals," and just based on the pilot, I thoroughly expected to not like this show, but I'm so glad I gave it a chance, seriously one of the best shows I've seen in a while, and these songs are amazing, especially this one!

I actually agree with you about Alastor being good intentioned. Not only is it a wonderful subversion of his own words but it is heavily influenced by what Rosie says in her conversation with Charlie about words being cheap but actions being meaningful. Alastor is in words a dangerous, sarcastic, and ultra selfish and confident individual but his actions are telling of a caring, calculated but scared and cautious person. He owns Nifty and Husk's souls but treats them with respect and even regards their own beliefs and feelings into his consideration. He doesn't harm them in spite of his power and only scares Husk rather than harm him despite Husk saying a dangerous situation that could jeopardize his plan. He picked Husk in the hotel to get a kindred soul for Angel and help him break free of Valentino. He helps Charlie countless times without even having a deal with her, providing her with assistance, guidance and advice while posting difficult questions and concepts for her to be able to deal with her critics later on better and with stronger arguments. He even introduced her to a dear friend, Rosie, who understands relationships which as an aro/ace he cannot really help her with. He shakes Lucifer to be more present and more involved with her and the hotel so that it is successful. He steps in to the middle of a fight to protect others and prevent Vaggie from being harmed. He keeps Carmella Carmines secret and introduced Vaggie to help her become a better fighter. And the list goes on, but based on the actions above it seems like Alastor is genuinely a well intended mentor and while he has some need for Charlie's help, he is actually pulling strings and putting pieces on the board for a good outcome for the people around him. I really love how she never says she IS ready for the battle, but that she has to be or she hopes she will be ready. It’s nice to have a character who doesn’t suddenly get over confident but is still willing to do what they can to save the people/place they care about and understanding that they have to appear confident even if they don’t feel that way to inspire the people they lead

I love musicals, and I think a lot of people miss out on how brilliant they can be at storytelling and wordplay. To be fair, the subject matter of a lot of musicals aren't interesting to people, so I don't blame them for not watching them. But when you find a good musical you're interested in you often find that they do storytelling and emotion in music so well.

John - I would absolutely recommend checking out Addict if you haven't already, it's a 5 minute long music video similar to Poison released just after the pilot episode with the same voice acting cast. It seems like something you'd love and could be worth a main channel video!

I think what makes this different than other musicals that you might have know growing up (Hamilton has this too) that when they break out into song its part of the dialougue and the other characters know its happening and it moves the story. I can think of other musicals that work the opposite of the well (Crazy Ex Girlfriend the songs are more less characters inner thoughts but they also reveal character motivation)

We're not gonna talk about the fact that Alastor super casually alakazamed Rosies umbrella at 05:25? Their Bestie dynamic is s-tier ngl The Song is so underrated in general man. Love Erikas voice and voiceacting while singing it so much. The emotions she puts behind it makes the song feel so alive and it just grabs you man. Al and Rosie's duett at the end is like the cherry on top. I also adore how present Rosie and Alastor are at the last verse at how ready they are to fight heaven. Like it's two overlords actively taking part in Charlies idea and I love this fact. Perfect song to me easily one of m favorites of the show. As for Alastor- I'm totally with you I think he's one of the good ones who actually cares in some fucked up, psychotic kinda way but most likely doesnt know it or doesnt want to know it yet lmao Edit: I just found that he's fetching the umbrella for her instead of alakazam'in it and tbh it makes him even cooler.

Alistair is my favorite. He is so charismatic that it makes it super easy to forget that, while he is willing to help with the hotel, he is only doing so for his own entertainment (providing that it doesn't actually have something to do with his deal). My choir teacher gave me some of the best life advice: to smile and keep them guessing. Granted now I smile when mad or sad, but it definitely got me though several rough days when I was working in food service. The fact that Alistair is always smiling, following a similar mindset, endeared him to me. I love he sees a smile as a power play.

Strange bit of trivia about Hazbin Hotel: Lute is voiced and sung by Broadway star Jessica Vosk ... who had Scott Hoying of Pentatonix as one of her supporting artists in her Carnegie Hall solo show. And now she's working with Scott on a musical he's writing.

I honestly just don’t trust Alistair as much as I love him and I don’t even know what brought me to the thought but I think Nifty might be way more powerful than we think and it would be such a funny twist if she was the one holding Alistair’s leash more realistically the 7 years of both him and Lilith leaving is just too big so she seems much much much more likely

One theory i have based on all the tentacles and shadow puppets he summons he could have gotten his powers from the Von Eldritchs (sp?). This lends the power linked to a more powerful, more primodial power than what he would have gotten from Lucifer or Lillith. In addition, his goal, i think, is to shadow puppet Charlie as she ascends based on his part in The Show Must Go On.

This song is my favorite out of the ones Charlie sings. Also 5:10 Alastor’s anger towards Lucifer was interesting. It made me think whoever has his soul must hold a grudge against Lucifer as well and so Alastor would blame Lucifer’s actions for his fate in a way. All speculation of course, but my money is on either Lilith or Eve. Both could have motives to hate Lucifer.

Charlie es absolutamente tan adorable, me encanta como se esfuerza al máximo por los demás incluso si para eso tiene que vencer sus propios temores, la canción es simplemente estupenda y Alastor, es genial como puede en un momento parecer raro psicópata que da miedo y a los dos segundos ser tan divertido y hasta dar ternura, en lo personal creo que él tiene sus propias ambiciones y una historia detrás relacionada a su contrato que aún no sabemos, pero creo que muy en el fondo tiene su corazoncito y Charlie ha demostrado que puede tocar los corazones y sacar lo bueno hasta de las almas más perdidas, así que tengo confianza en él jajaja, de nuevo gracias por el excelente video ❤

what's the deal with Alastor is probably the biggest question going into season 2, at least for me.

Alastor cares about the hotel, however, he will use anyone and anything in his way to get out of his deal (who he's under, we don't know yet). He's also only ever taken one person's soul, which is Husk. EDIT: I will say that he will definitely take more souls if it benefits him, he is a psychopath, but at the same time you can see how much he actually likes the hotel and some of the people in it.

No solid idea on who has his contract, I feel Lillith would be TOO obvious.. But I DO feel like he would prefer to be Charlie's right hand man, 'pulling the strings' as he's said. Just my thought, though, since ya asked! I'm so glad you've enjoyed Hazbin Hotel AND Helluva Boss. :3
