Surprised almost nobody suggested them but I see 2 main reasons. - people assumed you knew them - They're "controversial" as in some people say it's not metal/it's a gimmick. But you heard it yourself, instrumental is sick (and better live) but this one is kinda odd in their discography, tho virtually almost all of their songs are different and mix different types of metal with other styles of music. If you decide to go on, now that you've opened Pandora's box (😂) suggestions will be coming. Usual ones will be Road of Resistance live in japan, Karate (official mv is nice), Headbanger live legend of 1997 concert, Rondo of nightmare live (the 7 ish minutes version, including band solo intro) 😉

Excellent reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL galaxy. I have no idea why nobody has recommended them to you or requested a reaction until now - unless they were concerned that once you start looking into them you will neglect the other bands you react to. That isn't impossible as they are the most innovative and inventive band about and one of the very best live acts you will find, but they are unconventional by 'normal' metal conventions. BABYMETAL have about 50 songs now - and every one of them is different. They have songs in virtually every metal genre and will mix in or fuse countless other musical styles or genres whenever they feel like it pretty much - they follow nobody else's rules. This is just one of the things that makes them unique and never boring. Some songs are very heavy, others lean more towards their pop roots and you will find everything in between - eventually ... maybe even a song or two that hits both ends of the scale at the same time. BABYMETAL are Su-metal (now 22) and Moametal (now 21) - the third original member, Yuimetal, sadly left the band in October 2018 having been absent from the stage for the previous 12 months. She had ongoing (and undisclosed) health issues and had not fully recovered so was still unable to perform, so she announced she would be leaving the band and hoped to follow her own long held dreams. Since the start of the 2019 tour Su and Moa have been supported by three dancers (the Avengers) who take turns to dance in the third spot (they do not have any vocals so far). They are Kano, Riho and Momoko. Their backing band, the Kami Band, were phased in gradually from October 2012 playing festivals and encores in some shows. They became the full time backing band early in 2014. If the musicians in a video are wearing skeleton suits they were miming the instruments to a backing track - they were called 'Babybones' and were there for show (no pretence was made otherwise, everybody knew what they were doing). The Kami Band are the ones in traditional white burial robes and white corpse face paint (more recently in black robes and now wearing masks ... nobody likes the masks, we want the Kami Band to have their faces back). The Kami Band are among Japan's very best session musicians and can play anything. For the 2019 and 2020 US and European tours the Kami Band of the west (American musicians from Galactic Empire on guitars and bass, Anthony Barone on drums) were introduced. They will surprise you every time. The official videos are good (especially for 'Megitsune' and 'Karate') but their live performances are where they are at their very best - try to avoid compilation videos for a first watch unless there is no better alternative available. Here is a good one that is very different to 'BxMxC' (but as I said before, they all are) - 'Headbanger' live at Legend 1997 (Su-metal's 16th birthday show in December 2013) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h6ujgsR-x7Sqp6s.html

It's kinda funny that nobody suggested them considering you would probably never have discovered most if not all of those J-rock/J-metal bands if it wasn't for the fact BABYMETAL broke the barriers a while ago and got people interested in the Japanese Rock & Metal scene. Most of these bands are probably thankful that BABYMETAL shone a bright spotlight on them.

You're not wrong, at least in my case. I had been in a music funk for several years when I discovered Babymetal. Most of the stuff coming out in the west was starting to get stale, repetitive and just generally 'meh', as far as I was concerned. Don't get me wrong, there were some stand outs here but, for the most part, I was getting pretty bored with what was available. Then I stumbled on Gimme Chocolate and I thought "That was quirky, weird and different (and I love me some different). Let's dig a little deeper and see where this leads". Long story short, I fell down the fox hole, hard. Then I started getting recommendations for other Japanese groups like Band Maid (LOVE Band Maid), Doll$Box, Aldius and more. I pretty much fell into the Japanese black hole, as Trenton called it. Strangely enough, this also led me to kpop. Truthfully, I've never been a big fan of pop music, but kpop just sucked me in too, just like the j-bands sucked me in. As I said, I love me some different and the stuff coming out of Asia is just that, different from what I'm used to hearing, yet also familiar in a way. It's also so well put together. It seems, at least to me, that the Asian groups are in it more for the art then anything else while most of the stuff coming out of the west feels like they're in it for the money. Damn, I talk too much. Anyway, again, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. I credit Babymetal for opening the Asian music scene for me, for that, I'm very grateful to them.

Babymetal are right up there with the most exciting metal bands in the world today. Given they’re celebrating their 10th Anniversary, you have plenty of material, to check out. They have a very diverse library. So you really need to check out half a dozen or more tracks to get a flavour. BxMxC is their latest music video. So it’ll be fun to see you watch their early material. As ever, live performances are best.

By definition, they are an experimental metal (jpop vocals + metal sound + certain sound/genre). You choose from below. Babymetal death (legend 1997) - metallica Megitsune - traditional jp folk song (sakura sakura) Road of resistance - dragonforce Shanti shanti shanti - indian instruments Pa pa ya - thai instruments + rap Night night burn - flamenco Meta taro - viking metal Oh majinai - pirate metal Tales of the destinies - dream theater Syncopation - 70s 80s jrock Karate - late 90s early 00s djent Yava! - ska Sis anger, gj - death metal No rain no rainbow - x japan Kagerou - late 90s hard rock Of course there are other songs that i havent mentioned (gimme choco, idz, headbanger, headbanger, etc). But those are what i remember of the top that has influences to me.

OK, some suggestions. They do have a problem with getting blocked (lot of Japanese bands do) so be warned. 1st one I'd recommend is Road of Resistance Live in Japan. The guitar parts were co-written with Sam Totman and Herman Li of Dragonforce. Then there is the Rondo of Nightmare with Mischief of Gods intro, which shows off the Kami band. They have toured with Korn and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, opened for Metallica in Korea, opened for Judas Priest in Singapore. Su-metal has sung Painkiller and breaking the Law with Rob Halford at an awards show. They have a cameo in Corey Taylor's CMFT MV (he's a fan). They have done a collab with Bring Me the Horizon which will be out Oct 30. Su-metal seems willing to tackle anything whether rap as in this song or Bollywood vocal style in Shanti Shanti Shanti. This MV is brand new, Su is 22 and Moa 21. They are in their 10th year now, they started as a subgroup of a Japanese idol group Sakura Gakuin. Their 1st MV is Doki Doki Morning if you want to see their beginning.

Can't say for other people but I can say why I didn't recommend. When you start listening to japanese metal, Babymetal is the natural path. Even if no one talks to you about them, you'll get there eventually. Because Babymetal is super popular. I like them, I listen to them almost every day but there are some other bands, as good as they are (at least for me), that don't have the same visibility. So I will always try to suggest people to look into these underrated bands because I'm sure they'll get into Babymetal after some time too. And Babymetal has a lot of following so once you atract the fandom, it's easy to neglect other bands because Babymetal brings a lot of people into the videos. And yes, there are some people who dismiss them as just a gimmick and all, but it doesn't even make sense. Go for "Rondo of Nightmare" with the Mischief of Gods intro live Budokan Black Night.

I saw Sabbath live in 1976 and saw Babymetal live in Feb this year. In the 44 years between those 2 gigs, they are the most refreshing Metal band and new genre of Metal (Kawaii Metal/Cute Metal) I've seen in decades. Explore their 10 years of great music, especially their live gigs, which are epic. Try their song 'Death' from their Legend 97 concert for one of the best Metal finales to a show ever. As with others here I'm surprised no one recommended Babymetal before. In my opinion, they are one of the more interesting things to happen in metal in quite a while. They have three solid albums of eclectic metal awesomeness and they are one of the best live performing bands in the world with Rammstein-level killer shows. Anyway, DEFINITELY check more of them out. I am also quite versed with the Japanese music scene in general (which is the overall best in the world right now in my opinion), so I'm curious to see what else you react to. Guess I'll have to check out your back videos for now. Anyway, good reaction.

I'd recommend checking out some of their older live videos to get a good idea of what they're all about. Maybe something like Headbanger - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j9Cair2hy8XOg6c.html or even Rondo of Nightmare - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/br1yd8x9srS-k3k.html . Nice reaction! I'm happy to see that you did some research beforehand on them. Everything has basically been covered already about the band, so I'll keep it short. Just a couple little things: First, it is actually pronounced "Ka-why-ee" (almost like how you say Hawaii). Second, fun story for this song. Yes, the general consensus is that it stands for "BABYMETAL Cypher", however, many fans have speculated that it actually means "Bring Moa Chicken". It's a fan joke because Moa is a notorious foodie and will bring it up even when it isn't close to the topic of conversation. The first question an interviewer asked her last year was "How are you feeling?", to which she replied "Hungry! I need some fried chickens!" I had also heard of them but never really listened to them until the end of last year when I heard their song "Distortion" on my satellite radio. I thought it was good enough to use Shazam to go back later and download it. It took until early-April for me to get back to it, but ever since then I haven't been able to stop listening to them. They are so good and are so different from what you're used to hearing in metal. No two songs sound the same, they kill every one of them, and have been going for a full decade as of earlier this month! Keep the reactions coming to BABYMETAL!

Babymetal is the freaking greatest! Probably my number one J-Pop/Metal group. I highly recommend much more of them. I would start with "Headbanger" (Live Legends 1997), "Rondo of Nightmare" (Live with Mischiefs of God Intro), and "Catch Me If You Can" (Live Black Night Legends Doomsday), though honestly the list goes far beyond those. ALSO (and most important), while some of their music videos are great, LIVE is almost always better. The exceptions might be "Karate", "Pa Pa Ya", and MAYBE "Megitsune" (debatable).

⚡ 💕 / 🕶️ 🎤 🍗 What's interesting is that even though this Trap/Metal/Djenty/JPop song kicks ass, it's the only one on the album in this style. All of the other songs are different. The lead singer Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto, or Su) has an incredible range, and IMO, slays on every track. 'Distortion' is also very djenty though, and 'PA PA YA!!' is another high energy song. 'Shanti Shanti Shanti' is unlike anything else. : ) Not sure why BABYMETAL haven't been suggested before. Some folks complain that the members fronting the group don't play instruments, but that never stopped Ozzy, Rob Halford or Bruce Dickinson from stepping on stage.

Babymetal is usually most people's introduction to Japanese metal bands.Their music label had been very 'protective' of their works so usually the only things that got past them was select live performances (which are good as well) but I believe they have gotten to the point that they have their own 'label' and have become much more open to reactions and such (as has the Japanese music industry as a whole as it gives them a much wider audience) though there are concerts that using them will get blocked. My introduction was 'Road of Resistance', the original music video not the live one so I have been following them for some time and they have grown quite a bit and their style varies a lot even on the same CD. One of the Su's best performance (in my opinion) is 'Akatsuki the unfinished version' live from Legend 1999 which is a ballad version of the original but very emotional. Some other Japanese bands to check out that I listen to: Bandmaid SCANDAL Yousei Teikoku Aldious Unlucky Morphius Ningen Isu Wagaki Band The HU (Mongolian band) IronBunny D_Drive (Instrumental band) These will lead you to many other bands as well.

For example, since June last year until March this year (before the pandemic), they performed 20 times in USA, 19 in EU/UK/Russia and 1 in Taiwan in addition to 15 in Japan (total : 49 their own concerts + 6 appearance in festivals). Please continue to explore BABYMETAL, especially their live videos. For BxMxC, I have to confess that I did not believe this challenging song would be played live. Subscribed, Blue Babymetal goes back to 2010 with their first live performance of Doki Doki Morning. The list of songs to suggest for you to listen too after listening to BMC is so long and extensive and covers so many different styles of music with a heavy metal backing, hard to pick one for you to continue the journey of Awesomeness. BMC was an actual Music Video(obviously) and the latest one they have put out, so your journey is going to go backwards from here or even back to the beginning or somewhere in between. There are already some live performance videos out there of BMC. This song got alot of hype after they Debuted it a year ago, so they made a MV of it after what I would consider a long dry spell of no Music videos or at least rare. There are only two girl members of Babymetal now; Su and Moa metal. Yui metal got sick back around 2018 and left the group (sadly). They have an "Avenger" dancer or dancers that have stepped in for Yui over the years from Su, Moa +1,2,3 dancers on various songs, this will hopefully clear up any confusion depending on what concert and what song you watch live pre and post 2018. I think the last actual music video they put out was Distortion which was when Yui was sick and her heath and continuation in the group was up in the air. None of the Girls appear in the video. Most of their best work is live because you get to see the crowd interaction and how HYPED up they get the crowd, it is very seldom that you don't see all 30,000-50,000 all jumping and throwing the fox god fist in the air all in sync, you will be amazed. But, we have to pay homage to the Music Video's that started it all and let us get to the Live performances like their very first Music video, Doki Doki morning (Doki Doki means feeling your heartbeat in excitement, getting ready for a big day or something close to that, in the context of the song.) which launched them into stardom and was just about them waking up in the morning and getting ready for the day. WHAT TIME IS IT NOW! I think they were 10(Yui and Moa) and 11(Su) making this video. Then there is Megitsune, so hardcore, SOOO DOPE, which is epic and so deep with the lyrics and meanings. It is hard to grasp if you don't know the language, so I recommend you get the lyrics and have them ready for every song because they all have super great positive meanings that NEED to be understood to get the message out, or you can watch the video by Andrew Hartley who is a Professor, Author and huge Babymetal fan. He does a Deep dive on Megitsune, and goes in hardcore with all the traditions, meanings and lyrics in GREAT detail. If you want to know what this song is about and there is ALOT to take in other than just watching the music video. His complete dissection of Megitsune is a must. I think they were like 13-14 years old in this. Then again there is Karate Music video, incredible visuals and awesome meaning about defeating your inner demons, Nothing like seeing cute girls doing Karate and kicking some Demon a$$. They were 15-16 years old in this video. -Or- Iine(pronounced eenay) not Line but iine (so good, so good), which will snap your neck with the musical changes. Hard for me to pin down how old they are in this video. It was released in 2012 putting them at 12 and 13 or so, but they look MUCH younger here. Then there's Headbanger Music video about a girl age 13 (Su-metal) going to a heavy metal concert and well, Headbanging for the first time; followed by headbanger live @ legend of 1997(Su-metal's 16th birthday) concert where most of the Babymetal reaction videos you see on youtube are pulled from. After that, there is the Headbanger Remix that Babymetal did of their own song as the intro to the Legend of 1997 concert, don't forget your neck brace for those. So, if my ages and math is right I think that the Legend of 1997 concert came out 3 or 4 years after Headbanger music video was released. Even better would be Road of Resistance live in Japan, (Dragonforce Collaboration) which was an encore performance to the concert that they just Whipped out after hours of 100% hardcore dancing and singing. The most epic crowd interaction I think I've ever seen and the Kami band is seriously highlighted in this video. Think they are 13-14 in this video. Then we get into the Su-Metal solo live songs like; Rondo of Nightmare Live @ Budokan Black Night with the Mischiefs of God intro, @ ages of 13 and 14, they became youngest ever female act to perform a show there. Holy CRAP! Kami Band intro (Kami=God in Japanese so God Band) and she sings through her nose apparently in one of the verses(odd technique and interesting sound, most think its digital, but its hard to tell), or Akatsuki incredible solo hardcore song. Tamashii no Rufuran, No rain No rainbow, or maybe White Love. Let's not forget Yui and Moa's Black Babymetal song's; they give Su a break and have some AMAZING duo songs; Onedari Daisakusen, again need to get the lyrics, this song is about the two girls using their devilish cuteness to get Dad to buy stuff for them. The riff is incredible along with the amazing girls. This song is so great. Then maybe, SiS Anger, GJ, or Song 4 No Uta. I know this is a long and extensive list, and I could go on and on even more. You're just going to have to choose where to go, and when you do decide, remember to pause occasionally, well, all the time to prevent the copyright monster. I may be off on some facts, I'm sure The One will correct my mistakes :) in a kind and gentle manner.

Interesting that you mention the chunky sounding guitar. They're actually playing a new model ESP that was released in collaboration with Babymetal. Very strange that no one recommended Babymetal to you. They are by far the most successful Japanese act outside of Japan ever. They were the first Asian group to reach the number 1 spot on Billboards Weekly Top Rock Albums (October 26th, last year). At Loudwire's 6th Annual Music Awards, babymetal won "Best Metal Album", "Best Metal Song", "Best Live Act", "Most Devoted Fans" and "Rock Goddess of the Year" (the last two categories almost certainly created specifically for this band). But there's no need to worry. You are about to get swamped with song recommendations now that the Babymetal fans have found you :-). I'm willing to guess that the top ones will be: - "Road of Resistance", which is a power metal anthem cowritten by DragonForce. - "Rondo of Nightmare" with the "Mischief of Gods" intro, which shows off the Kami band (with each member getting a solo) and Suzuka's lovely vocals. - "Headbanger", which is a very cute and catchy, and perhaps more "typical", Babymetal song. - "Akatsuki", for some nice solo vocals and a great dual guitar solo. - "Tales of the Destinies", which is a proper progressive metal track in the spirit of Dream Theatre, making it very clear that this band is so much more than just a gimmick. The Babymetal catalogue is famously diverse, and all fans will of course have their own favorites, but the one thing that most of us will agree on is that you really should listen to the live versions whenever possible. The albums are extremely well produced, and the studio versions of the songs sound great, but they are a bit too polished at times, and they have a tendency to screw around with Su's voice (which I personally find very annoying). Listening to them live is almost always the way to go, because it's not just the music itself that is great. Su's live vocals are world class. The Kami band are world class. The stage shows are world class. The girls' stage presence and crowd control is second to none.

That song is a great intro to BABYMETAL . But their live concert videos are the best way to experience them . Try reacting to Head Banger and Death both from the Legend of 1997 show . And also checkout Road of Resistance live in Japan . They are truly one of the most wild and unique modern bands you can experience . Enjoy !

Andd waalaa, here we are the BM fans demand more reaction! , since you are metal vocalist it's really relateable for the music. BM is not that "one type of song" cz they always try to implement other genre in metal. The producer Koba Metal is a genius, if you listen closely some of their music is inspired by the band such as Slipknot, Metallica, even Messhugah. Hope to see you react to another song of BM

Nice. If you like the heavy instrumentals in BxMxC, the next video you should react to is the official music video for "Karate". That was one of the two videos that got me hooked on them. It's from their second album, back when they were still a group of three (Yuimetal had to leave in 2018 due to unspecified health reason). Usually live performances are recommended, but the official video for Karate is also incredible in terms of production values.

Fun to see someone listening to this as their first Babymetal song, glad you enjoyed it :) it's a lot different than their other songs, they have a very varied sound, experimenting with different genres, and they don't usually rap :) I really need to recommend Rondo of Nightmare live at the Budokan Black Night performance. If you search for it you'll find a longer video where the Kami band has an intro where all of the ones there get to show off their skill with their instruments, then Su sings a haunting solo song that is just perfect for Halloween :) And just in general I'd really recommend live performances - they have a few fun music videos like this one, but they're really in their element when on stage.

The live video I suggested is from back in Dec. 2013, and "1997" refers to Su-metal's (lead vocalist) birthyear. The concert "Legend 1997" was her 16th birthday concert (she's now almost 23). I think people are recommending Japanese Rick/metal bands because they assume that you know BM, who are the most reacted to and most popular Japanese act in the West. Usually after that, if people don’t go down the mainstream J-Pop route, it is Band Maid next, Maximum the Hormone, maybe Wagakki Band. With BM people often react to Gimme Chocolate first for the WTF factor, though they are very diverse in their music

Thank you for giving BABYMETAL a chance. This song is VERY different from their other songs because of the rapping, BUT every song is very different from the other songs anyways! Here is a little bit of info...In 2019, BABYMETAL became the first Asian artists to hit #1 on BILLBOARD's Top Rock Albums chart with their latest album, "Metal Galaxy". BABYMETAL have performed with, toured, or opened for Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), Metallica, Korn, Dragonforce, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, and Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), to name a few of many. BABYMETAL has been around for TEN years and have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65,000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Glastonbury, Download, Sonisphere, etc), US, and Asia. Plus the 20+ awards they have been given. They have 50+ songs and each one is different from the other, so I hope you give the other songs a try. By the way, they have some really great heavy songs too, and I hope you like guitar solos, as well as bass and drum solos, like I do, because they have them too.

Here's a thought as to why BM has not been suggested much (maybe not the least controversial one, though): You've been doing J-rock and J-metal. Bands. I don't see PassCode, BBTS or Desurabbits on your channel. There is a bit of a divide. While a lot of people will say that BM are not idols, no one will deny that they started that way and the logic of how the group works still draws from that origin. Most of the time, people suggest BM, or any other idol-rooted heavy music from Japan, mainly for the shock value of young girls (or women) dancing and singing in a cute way to heavy riffs. This song is not like that, but most of their stuff is. I love it (understatement), but I see why people might find it a bit, you know, not very cool. That, and the fact that you're a metal vocalist reacting to Japanese heavy music. BM is arguably the biggest Japanese music group outside of Japan. People will assume you've heard them.

I have a theory, people are hesitant to recommend Babymetal for you because they are unsure of your taste of music. Babymetal is so vast in their exploration that it is often confusing for first time listeners. Traditional metalheads who can't stand rapping or edm in their metal landed on BxMxC or Gimme Chocolate -> oops... Pop listeners who cannot tolerate heavy noises landed on Death or Sis Anger -> ouch... Hiphop fan who doesn't understand metal sounds landed on Rondo of Nighmare or Road of Resistance -> errr... Punk lovers who doesn't tolerate slower vibes landed on No Rain No Rainbow or Shine -> eh... Serious people who hate cute and playfulness in their metal landed on Doki Doki Morning or Iine -> aarrgghh... If one hates a particular genre, or dwelve in a box where a particular genre is just simply unacceptable, or have a mindset that metal should be this and that and nothing other, then Babymetal is gonna be difficult to digest. Just my opinion :)

I think it's more like what someone else said. The fans of the smaller/lesser bands are jealous of Babymetal. You heard how into this he was already less than 30 seconds into this song. Plenty of KZfaqrs have gotten enthralled enough by Babymetal to react to basically everything that they have done. Those people don't want to lose their reactor to that.

He is a musician and in my experience musicians appreciate other musicians regardless of genre, if something is good they will give credit as they have a better understanding of just what it takes to get in front of people and perform, it is not something that just anyone can do, it takes a lot of balls to put yourself out there to be judged by people you don't know

@@randumo24 That theory doesn't make any sense though, if someone wasn't a fan of Babymetal what reason would they have to recommend them?

@@acornsoda22 You don't have to be a particularly big fan of a band to recommend it if you think it's something they might like based on what they have been interested in.

I have a theory that we are experiencing a new “invasion” similar to the Beatles and their effect on Rock in the 60’s. Except it’s from Japan this time, and honestly, Babymetal started it. Surprised you are JUST now getting to see these fine young women! 🔥🤘🦊🤘🔥

Yea definetly check out more Babymetal if you like them :D BxMxC is even better live, watch some fancams of this song on KZfaq if you want. Also I'd recommend you to watch LIVE performances of Babymetal because that's where they're the best. And I recommend you the song "Babymetal - Akatsuki Live at Budokan Black Night"

Subscribed, Blue Great reaction, I'm new to your channel and I'm surprised nobody suggested them before. When it comes to Japanese metal, they are subject matter experts. No matter which song you do next, expect the unexpected. Pretty much every metal genre you think of, they have it in one of their songs. And then you add non-metal genres in the mix (J-Pop, Ska, Indian, folk,...). Enjoy the ride :)
