In this episode I’m coming back to extract an object hidden in a dark tunnel. In case you haven’t seen what lead to this discovery, maybe watch my previous video first: LINK
The small tunnel was build in “dry stone” style and seemed to be part of an old, abandoned vegetable garden. I came prepared, with a “custom made" tool, flashlight and even a shovel for another deep signal I had to leave behind the last time.
You saw what happened… A total disaster and the worst case scenario! On top of that it started raining… I had two choices, either to pack my gear and go home, or to stick around for a metal detecting round in the surrounding area.
It seemed like a bad decision at first, but I had a small spot in mind, which turned out to be “productive”.
The breakthrough came in form of a lead seal. That’s when I realized, that a possibility of something being overlooked, still exists. I then found a “20 Pfennig” silver coin from 1874 together with other finds from this era.
But the oldest find came from 1690-1720 in form of a shiny shoe buckle, accompanied by a 1700’s button.
I was already very satisfied with the unexpected result, when I swept the coil over a relatively clear and loud signal. It was a find that caught me totally by surprise and really shocked me!
A huge “5 Mark” silver coin from 1902! Not something I find every day. Actually I never found one before in my entire metal detecting “career”.
This felt surreal, not even like a bonus on top. What a turnaround after such difficult and disappointing start.
As for hidden treasure, I really hope to find it some day!
I hope you enjoyed it.
Thanks for watching!
