Misa doesn't play her bass as an average player will just supporting the lead guitar. You can describe her playing as just adding another lead. She studies how the song is written by Kanami, looking at how she plays her parts and just offsets that with something that supports but yet is equally catchy and unique. That's why Kanami will let her actually take the lead at certain times in some songs. That is respect. Bassists of her caliber don't come along very often.

As others have said, the Ladies write an instrumental for their new releases as the fans enjoy them. As for MISA's playing, she actually started as a guitar player then switched to bass. When the band first formed, Miku didn't know how to play guitar, an as she was learning, MISA's bass lines were written to cover the lack of the rhythm guitar. And they've just kept MISA playing what is basically a "Lead" bass line. In the live video of Freedom, you can see and hear just how complex her bass line is. My daughter who is a middle school music teacher says that MISA is playing basically the lead for the entire song, as other than her solo, Kanami is playing mostly rhythm.

When I heard this your name quickly came to mind. This is a big departure from thier normal instrumental formula.

They write a new instrumental for every album now. That's what the fans expect and that's what they give them. I would say 100% it was written as an instrumental from the get go. I think you'll appreciate what Akane does in this song more if you watch the music video someday. Unless you expect her to play until her arms and legs fly off. I don't know what you consider "going ham" as far as drums are concerned.

It was an intentional instrumental. Miku asked Kanami to write an orchestral inspired instrumental. And, of course, she delivered. They usually do at least one instrumental per EP/LP release, at least since their 4th LP when they had full writing control.

Great reaction and from recent interviews, Saiki (main vocalist) stated that she has for a long time wanted an instrumental as the first song on an album and as this is an EP (8 songs), she asked Kanami to write one. Theme for the album is supposed to be a new start of part 2 of World Domination. Most of these songs were written during the lockdown in Japan and to some extent reflect their frustration with not being able to play live or meet with each other live. So the title of the Album (and song) is expressing that they are now free and "unleashed!!!!!".

On all the songs from this EP, for me, it’s Akane’s drumming that stands out. She’s playing these precise epic, fast rolling drum fills, which she usually doesn’t do. This is my favorite instrumental.

This should help you at least remember Akane's (the drummer's) nickname. On stage in San Francisco last night, she downed a banana and shouted I'm the Gorilla before thumping her chest and throwing the peel out into the crowd. HILARIOUS!! INCREDIBLE show all around! Thanks again!🤘🤩🤘

I believe this was meant to be instrumental. Kanami has been playing more lyrically since Miku is becoming a better guitar player. I think this one is my favorite instrumental, maybe my favorite Band Maid song. The MV from the bonus DVD is up on Bilibili if you search for Band Maid From Now On MV. There seems to be less compression so the lead guitar definitely pops more. And it's fun to see them while you listen. Visual stimulus reinforces the sound.

And they call it an EP, so we call it an EP. To me, I grew up in the 80s, so and EP has 4 songs, a single has 2 (a & b side) and an LP has at least 10, 5 per side. So I guess I would call an 8 track release either an EEP (Extended extended play) or Mini-LP.

You will want to check out the live footage from the current Band-Maid tour from the song "Freedom", Akane, (drummer), goes full ham, you'll love it! This song sets Band-Maid's instrumentals a notch higher, imho!

Just discovered your channel dude and loving it! As a metal head you may already be familiar with some Avenged Sevenfold stuff and I would love to hear your reaction to some of their stuff! No idea how familiar you are with them, but something like Almost Easy is a good start point, but if you're familiar with the heavy stuff, some of the stuff on their latest album would be great. I love The Stage, but even song slike Roman Sky, which is slower is great
