Sorry for the reupload, I had no idea the ending just cut out on the original upload lol.
Thank you to Vlad for his request last month and sorry it took so long to get to side 3 finally! This was so much fun. I noticed a difference obviously because the songs with missing vocals didnt hit as well as the originally intended to be instrumental tracks. But still this was more then an enjoyable experience. I love these ladies :D

Oh and since I didn't have time to say why I love Japan so much in the video here is a written summation I was raised in a very strict Christian household as a young child. All music was christian. All media was christian. I was raised very orthodox lol no cable or anything. The only cartoons I could watch that werent "Bibleman" or something of the sort (lol) were Pokemon, Digimon, and Yugioh since that was on non cable tv aka network television for my out of country friends. I fell in love with them and started reading manga and stuff from the library (this was 20 years ago so very limited) Ruroni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, Beet the vandel buster, legend of the dragon kings (anime i think), shaman king so much man... but even then, I found out my grandpa was stationed in japan. Visited and climbed Mt. Fuji... you know stuff like that and he really appreciated Japan as well. I watched a documentary in 3rd grade about life in japan in the 80's and 90's and observed the daily life and was just enamored with it. I learned invaluable lessons like valuing friendship, fighting for what you believe in, and believing in oneself. That wasn't from contemporary american media which was just candy basically. looked pretty but had nothing of value and in secret actually was reductive to culture in general. so, Japan, thank you. I am who I am in part because of you. thats it. thanks for reading.

What I like about the instrumentals, with the vocal taken out, is it gives you a better understanding of the foundation. Then when you go back to the vocals version it is so much better.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Saiki's and Miku's voices, but this Side 3 track of "Unseen World" is incredible. Band Maid's talent and technical skills are beyond reproach. This should be required listening for any young metalhead before they ever become a rock musician (or even just a fan of metal). These ladies should be their "unseen" and seen teachers.

They really know how to write exciting and engaging metal music. They tend to push the boundaries that modern metal has put around itself without even really trying. That is a testament to their musical ability and imagination and I will forever follow them wherever they go 🚶‍♂️ ❤️ 😊

So much controlled chaos and hidden layers under these songs. I think it's cool that the band included some fan service with these instrumenal versions in this deluxe edition so that we can get a better glimse of all that goes into a BM song. 😁👍

Obviously the songs that were written as instrumentals (Onset, Don't Be Long, Without Holding Back, and From Now On) are going to work better as instrumentals. The tracks where they removed the vocals were made to highlight the musicianship that sometimes gets lost in the mix behind Miku and Saiki's vocals. They actually released a totally instrumental version of "Unseen World" with a scorebook and CD a few years ago. "Warning" and "Black Hole" sound insane without the vocals.

Giovanni is absolutely nuts instrumentally. It didn't stick out to me as much as the rest of that side of the album but here? Damn. Fucking brutal.

Yeah, go back and listen to the original with vocals again - it takes a lot of listens to take this all in, but Giovanni is a masterpiece. For real.

@@Kevin6059 also demonstrates yet another reason saiki and miku don't want to compose principly in English because the vocals are often part of the rhythm section as well as the soundscape and there is no way they can do that in a second language nor introduce another mind to the matrix. Dragons Cry is the least viewed MV they ever made. Basically because the lyrics don't nearly make the cut. Crunchy unoriginal themed emotion uninspiring soundscape

On the "First Press Limited Edition" of Unseen World these are on a DVD/Blu-ray done in a stark white room. For each song there are 5 videos. One each focused on each player and one that moves around to see all of them. In video form this allows you to see exactly what each is doing and would help a musician to do a cover.

Thanks for this wonderful review! Obviously, you are too smart, since you are able to see through this chaos even though it's so thick. For me, the instrumental versions of BAND-MAID are like seeing an engine working without its cover. I see all the cogwheels and pistons moving, and that fascinates me. I remember that the first time I heard their track called YOLO, I was completely lost. What is happening there? I was not able to decipher it. But they have included a "karaoke version" on that single, and then I was like, "Aha, that's what it is!" The full version was almost irritating to me, too much was happening, the sound waves were beating me from right and left, and I felt like a shipwreck tossed by the storm. Well, your insights are very valuable to me. I thank you from the bottom of my heart, really!

The amount of music that comes to light under the vocal layers is unfathomable. When you listen to the complete songs again you find them enriched.

I find that they’re greater than the sum of their parts. They come together in a way that’s so cohesive and complementary that they have like a multiplicative effect on each other. People frequently say that Misa or Akane is the glue that holds it together, but they all are. If you had a less talented, less creative drummer doing those accents, every member’s sound would suffer. If Misa weren’t so fluidly attaching to different members and amplifying what they were doing at different times, and playing her own leads, every part of the song would lose impact. If Miku wasn’t holding down the rhythm, Misa wouldn’t be able to play as freely and it would cascade into everything being weaker, to say nothing of how much richness she adds to their vocal sound. Kanami fills in whatever space is left with so many interesting riffs, and just creative use of lead guitar that they wouldn’t sound anything like Band-Maid without her. Saiki is remarkably good at using her voice percussively, in a way that’s really rare. It’s easy to underestimate how hard it is to sing with this group’s chaotic music, and how demanding it is for breath control, and needing to switch up timing and feel from second to second. She’ll also drive a groove sometimes so that Misa and the others can do weird shit. They all empower and drive each other to do more. They have a special chemistry and are a special band.

I have the full instrumental unseen world that came with the score book and it's mental, kinda scary almost. I think it might be an autistic thing but it sucks me in a way it doesn't with saiki there to protect me. It's almost inhuman

Great remarks. Shows the compositional talent of Band Maid, and Kanami in particular. Their regular songs are a sum of all the parts. Vocal melody lines is needed to complete the picture. When Kanami writes a purely instrumental, she works the vocal melody line into her guitar parts. That allows them to be complete.

Have you ever ever heard of a band re-release a song without vocals. Even though you think something's missing they are just so amazing that just the songs without vocals sound awesome. And I think it might be hard to come by but Sayanokidori is really something else with just instrumentals

The songs are always SOOOO Goood with Saiki and Miku's vocals. But Kanami wants people to listen to and watch the stripped down "focus" videos to LEARN how to play Band-Maid Songs. She even publishes the music for each album. The book isn't cheap but she does send out addendum corrections if she find mistakes in the score.

@@L33Reacts By the way, I have a gigantic Yes and related collection as they've actually been my group since 1972. HOWEVER, Band Maid has been the only other group since then to get my undying support since them and I've bought about everything. I think they're the best rock band on the planet and I always think of them on the same level as Queen and The Beatles as far as actual songwriting ability except I like the actual music better.

If you liked the songs with vocals stripped out that would imply that there’s something wrong with the vocals… and we know that’s not true! As you said yourself it’s just good to better hear subtlety in the playing that you might miss otherwise. In no way are they meant to replace the full songs!
