So the main point here is to remember that the meteor hammer is HEAVY and that means this is a completely different animal than the fairly light rope dart.

Meteor hammer is an extremely hard weapon to learn. This is respect brother.

2 american locks at each end on a 6ft 13lb chain. Makes sauce out of most things including your self. The bruises last for weeks. Suggest a helmet mouth guard and Faustian deal.

You need a flag. Spinning rope dart or meteor hammer without a flag is pretty advanced. And no offense, but I think you would benefit from one. Try ropedarts.com. I have four of their Phoenix tail flags (one for my rope dart, one for my meteor hammer and two for my 1.5 lb whip chain). Or if you want to use a small flag that still creates a lot of weight and facilitates control, try using sport fabric... It's kind of like spandex.

I normally remove them, actually. What benefits do you see from using flags?

+Taoist In Black The flag catches the wind and slows the rotation and stabilizes flight. (That's the theory) In practical application I find that without the flag, while exerting the same amount of force, the dart moves noticeably faster. Which forces the user to react that much faster. And if you're movements are "jerky" or "darting" because you're dodging your own weapon at the last second, then you're building bad habits and muscle memory. Ideally you want to learn everything slow and then the speed will come with comfort. But when it does come, it'll be accurate and easy. I haven't used my meteor hammer without a flag, but it has large spikes (it was taken from a medieval flail) and I don't want to be to cavalier with it, lol! Leave him alone with your stupid comment. I think he is pretty damn cool. They were lethal wepons in china through the waring periods and were very difficult to master.
