My theory is this: When Carne is badly hurt, the stand activates and consume whatever is near to heal his wouds. When he is fully healed, the stand dissapears, just like an automatic stand. But since he died, his stand is now a monster trying to heal him whatever it takes. And it will be like that forever, since Carne cant be healed because, he dead.

I adore the idea of Pucci achieving heaven and beginning to speed up just for a pink streak to rip across the sky and impact his chest, as the rest of the part 6 cast are left stunned in complete confusion and watch Notorious BIG quickly consume Pucci

I personally believe that Notorious B.I.G. had a different effect and that what we see was just a bonus.

My theory is that if Notorious B.I.G. absorbs enough life energy from its victims, it can use it to heal Carne's corpse and bring him back to life. Unfortunately for Carne, his Stand is stuck in the ocean forever, so he's dead for good this time.

I just thought Notorious B.I.G has abilities before Carne's death and his demise was unplanned, revealing another ability that just ended up being worse.

Maybe B.I.G. attacks and becomes stronger the more Carne hates his target, and the hatred of death supercharged it. So Carne fully intended to get shot, but dying wasn't part of the plan. Or alternatively, B.I.G. would be able to bring Carne back to life if some condition is met, like killing the person who killed Carne, but since that didn't happen, Carne stayed dead. I love that Jojo has these open-ended questions.

I don't think Carne knowing his stand's ability is all that crazy. Yoshikage Kira immediately knew Bites the Dust happened after the arrow was done stabbing him. What's more, Yoshihiro didn't even know. Stand users likely already know their ability, it's just that those in disbelief require their stands' shared conscience to figure it out/know for them.

Additionally, the word "Carne" in Italian van mean both "meat" ad well as "flesh", which as a reference to the Stand's manipulation of organic and spiritual material.

I imagine that B.I.G. did work while Carne was alive and worked in a similar way to Ebony Devil: the more injured and angry Carne gets, the stronger B.I.G. gets. This explains why it only manifested after Carne was shot. It would have the same abilities, but toned down and with more control. Basically, Carne expected Mista to shoot him, and probably intended to use Mista's own bullets against him by having B.I.G. lock onto the bullets, then attack Mista at close range. Mista just killed Carne too fast and accidentally unlocked B.I.G.'s godmode.

I believe Carne had a colossal death wish. So much so, that he must have been bound possibly in a straight jacket by members of Passione in order to prevent him from dying and setting off the stand. In other words, I think the boss instructed members of the gang to keep him alive at all costs until it was time to deploy him.

Does everybody keep forgetting that seico and Ciccolata exactly know what notorious b.I.g did, Even mentioning it one time questioning if Green Day could defeat it, So honestly I take it that carne Stand told him It's ability.

I seriously love this stand not only is it a truly terrifying stand ability, like having to die to activate it, but also that is basically unstoppable for anyone that doesn’t have a stand like Trish.

I believe Carne learned about his Stand's power through a near death experience. Like he died for a minute and woke uo to find the ambulance he was being transported in all torn apart. You could make a little side story about Carne slipping in and out at a hospital and having B.I.G causing havoc whenever it happened.

I like how Carne had a voice actor just to say: "hehehe"

I have a theory that Cioccolata rendered Carne unable to think for himself. It's not just that he was willing to die for the boss (as we see other exemples of people doing that), but mostly walking around like a zombie, with a vacant look on his face. Maybe he wasn't willing to comply and they had to brainwash him?

Okay, my theory is that B.I.G. might had a sort of resurrection ability. I mean, if it was based on vengeful spirits, what happens when he achieves vengance? To make the whole thing viable as an explotable power he could just crash into targets, and let BIG hunt them down, then be remade from BIG's mass. Would explain how carne knew this would happen, and why he was perfectly fine with the activation conditions, why go through provoking the gang rather than doing it himself. ...Or he might have just been scouted by a psychic and really was dumb enough to walk into a handfull of bullets

It makes sense that carna knew how his stand worked sense fugo knew he wasn't immune his stand purple haze.

One of my favourite Stands, mainly because it posed a legit threat and the Gang never truly defeated it. Imagine how much more disastrous it would have been if Notorious BIG was unleashed in a populated area.

Or maybe Carne's stand had a similar ability when he was alive, but because he died, the stand evolved into Notorious B.I.G.

The best example of a manga author coming up with something on the spot in my opinion was Eiichiro Oda and the Supernovas. He created 9 new characters out of nowhere, all with original and captivating designs and abilities. Many of them play a very important role in the story of One Piece today. I can't imagine Punk Hazard, Dressrosa or Wano without the supernovas. And although I'm sure Oda always planned on going to these locations, his plan for what actually happened there turned out to be very different thanks to the Supernovas.

There been a number of times where stand users just kinda realize what their stands can do. Like, how would jotaro know about star finger, super lungs and time stop? Sometimes stands kinda act on the users subconscious orders, like again jotaro, Kakyoin and hierophant in his child hood. Purple Haze acting out Fugo's hidden rage. Jolyne using her stand subconsciously. Giorno not even realizing that he used Golden Experience on that gangster who's life he saved, and not realizing that he user GER (sure, GER does speak, but stands don't tend to act outside of the users orders). If the user can use their stands subconsciously, they have to at least know about the ability in a instinctive way. It then later on develops into better understanding of the stand. Also, B.I.G. could be a stand that gets stronger as the user gets damaged. How more damaged can you get than being dead. Carne just didn't expect to get shot down immediately.

The situation in the plane also matches the monster blood episodes in goosebumps in the plane which came out a bit before the notorius B I G arc.

My theory is that Carne didn’t even know what his ability did and never actually intended to die. He was probably approaching that plain expecting to whoop some ass only to be quickly reminded how fast bullets are

I wonder if Araki will ever give us a stand inspired by Tupac in the future, because Notorious BIG was awesome.

I always kinda assumed that BIG was some kinda stand that activates with a revenge mechanic when he was alive but he died faster than he expected and it just happened to still work

I always just liked to think B.I.G was a stand similar to Cheap Trick, something like a stand that changes users upon the users death, maybe something like stand will go wild upon the users death but when someone that maybe the user knew, would calm down and could be transfered, something like that but it's most likely he just dies

I like to think Notorious B.I.G's human form was a punch-ghost type of deal where it's powers were just punching and kicking really good, and that Carne actually had no plans on dying and simply got bodied by Mista unexpectedly.

I could see Carne figuring out his stand's abilities when he had a near-death experience. Like in a shootout with a rival gang he may have been shot and came close to death, causing Notorious B.I.G to awake and go on a rampage, though not as uncontrolled as when he actually died.

I like to think that when Carne orders his stand to complete something, if it’s successful, it reconstructs and revives him. Though the whole debate about stand resurrection kinda muddies it, it would make way more sense why Carne knew his own stand ability, and why he was in the Elite Guard

I like to think that Carne and the Boss had no idea what his stand was, but they knew he had one since he survived the arrow, so they were like "Let's send that weird guy. Worst case scenario, he buys time for someone useful, best case scenario, his stand activated and wrecks shop."

I'd think the BiG would have it's absorbsion effects normally, but be a short-range stand, hard to actually trigger. It just gets 'unshackled' on death into an automatic stand.

I think if it succeeded in absorbing more than an arm, maybe a whole body? Carne would have come back. That being said, if it successfully brought him back in the middle of the sea with no way for him to get home without drowning and starting the whole process over again, it would make sense. It also explains his confidence, and the bosses faith in him.

I do respect this stand for 1 other aspect seen so little in JoJo, which is the "Tactical Retreat" method of victory. A.K.A scenarios and fights where our heroes don't legit win by knocking their enemy/oppresor down, but rather by simply escaping it and its effects. We dont see this again until part 7 with Sugar Mountain, where Johnny and gyro took a massive loss, but vame out alive because of it. Or for other example, the Darkness Devil Encounter in CSM. A complete loss, but a victory due to fear.

I created a theory on how maybe Carne got to know he needed to die for his stand fully activate. I imagine that when Diavolo was recruiting his top members, maybe he used Epitaph to see the future and find out if anyone could have an ability that would reveal his identity, and then by seeing in the future he saw himself killing Carne because his stand was apparently useless and then Notorious B.I.G would appear and kill him right off, so fearing that, he chose to keep Carne on his side as sort of a unstoppable weapon against his enemies.
