I love when April fools gives creators the chance to try more something new. Wash has always been one of the best character in rvb as well. Of all time.

What a raw deal it was, getting Epsilon put in his head. Just, "Here you go, one extra large order of sudden-onset PTSD, delivered straight into your brain. We've even thrown in a side order of rampant paranoia and disassociation free of charge!" They literally installed trauma.exe onto his OS like a friggin ROM.

David also brings to mind David and Goliath, or Washington vs Meta, the technically speaking strongest Freelancer due to all of his armor enhancements, as his EMP was able to make Meta unable to use his equipment, he was the one that managed to spot the invisible Meta and destroy his cloaking device (which he did second time with Locus) and thanks to him Tucker and Sarge, Meta drowned. Even goes to him disliking bullies, as that what Goliath was.

You missed one of the best bits when wash was lashing out after Carolina told him the news the Meta's theme was playing, wash has now had a traumatic experience with an AI, is an ex freelancer, shot in the throat and has fragmented mind, with the meta's theme it feels like he could almost tip over

that "updating blue team's roster" line hit hard, considering events in the last few years..

Dude, Red vs Blue was such a huge thing for me growing up. Seeing this here honestly smile a lot.

Wash's arc I feel represents the 5 stages of grief: Denial: Deciding to stay with Project Freelancer despite every other agent either leaving or dying. Anger: At the fact that even after he brought down Project Freelancer he was locked in prison. Bargaining: He struck a deal to get the Epsilon A.I from the Reds and Blues with the help of Maine/Meta to get out of jail. Depression: Realizing he was betrayed YET AGAIN by someone he felt was a good friend of his, plus him betraying the Reds and Blues. Acceptance: He finally settles into his role as leader of Blue Team finding peace finally.

"...Now if you'll excuse me, I have to see if we have to update Blue Team's roster. Again." That got a solid laugh out of me

you forgot the most important aspect of season 15 Washington grew a beard

I hope this isn't an April Fool's bit, the notification for this made me tear up with excitement. One of my favorite KZfaqrs covering one of my favorite fictional characters!

Wash was the beginning of a story more than a comedic bunch of guys in a box canyon, he evolved the world and the characters.

I know it's just an April Fools joke but that legit made me want to give Red versus Blue a shot, wouldn't mind more of this kind of videos either

Washington's memory loss post-injury is probably the last thing i can say i love about the series but one that i appreciated because it's unfortunately something I've had to deal with myself. It's pretty terrifying to be in the middle of town and suddenly lose your entire morning... but keeping people close can help you through a lot.

Despite the post s13 seasons of RvB being kinda bad, I love the Washington getting shot plotline. It's so emotional and well written. Which is more than can be said for the rest of those seasons.

The thing about season 15-17 is that it had good moments but was carried by a really unfortunate plot. That scene where Wash finds out he has brain damage and is screaming at the Reds and Blues and Carolina is chilling and heart wrenching. But then moments later Sister comes in with a dumb quip about how they all need therapy and the moment is gone. Wash is by far my favorite character in Red vs Blue. While I like what they did with his story, I wish that the rest of the plot could have lived up to it too. Regardless, the first 13 seasons will always be near and dear to my heart and nothing will change that. Not even RvB Zero. This was such an awesome video, thanks for doing such a wonderful character justice.

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. Wash was my favorite RVB character, when he joined the main cast in season 6 it completely changed the tone and style of the show. It was also cool seeing him work with and against the Reds and Blues before becoming a friend to them and even ditching his former comrade Carolina to stand up for them in season 10. It’s also kinda funny how different he was between project freelancer and the ‘modern’ era. You can tell everything that happened had a huge effect on him.

Ok but I don't blame Carolina for not telling him about his brain damage. I think deep down she knew that being the survivor Wash was, it would be damaging to know that he can't be there to save his friends when they need him when that's all he's done since he found the Reds and Blues. Because that's all he strives for, to protect the people he cares about, which is also why he reacts so harshly towards her when she finally tells him. He trusted her the most probably, so to be lied to hurt just as much as being told the truth, if not worse because it was kept from him to begin with. Man, I remember when Wash was just that character that got a few chuckles out of me because he had to deal with the Reds and Blues shenanigans. The series really did do a hell of a turn around from lighthearted jokes and jabs to serious moments huh?

Fun fact, the voice actor of wash was in breaking bad, he's the tweaker that walt saw in season 2

That scene, that fucking scene where Wash reloads his gun naming the bullets for every friend that died in his dream gives me chills to this day

Wash is easily my favorite RvB character. To me he's the perfect mix of badass Freelancer and goofy Sim Trooper, making him a very entertaining character.

Agent Washington is my favourite freelancer! Also, you know I kinda wish Epsilon and Wash got to properly talk to each other more. Even just hearing Epsilon talk to anyone about how it's his fault (unintentionally) that Wash became so messed up would of been interesting. It's talked about a lot before Epsilon becomes active and remembers but they don't mention a lot afterwards. I still get chills about the Lazer eye scene when Epsilon first sees Wash. I just wish it led to something more. The two were just kinda casual-ish to each other if I remember properly.

man, this was such a good retelling of Wash's story and what it means to finally find peace within yourself, moved me a bit honestly

Please make this a series, I’ve always wanted something like this for rvb since I finished the series.

Washington to me on a meta level is just so interesting. He reminds me of an older sibling. He's in this constant state of uncertanity throught the first half of the series. It's not untill the end of s10 when the group of people he knows should in no way be anywhere near him decide to go defend someone he himself decided was too much trouble . After that he became more focused. After that he's able to tell Locus what an idiot he's being and what an idiot Wash was. I love how he just interacts with the Reds and Blues to he feels like the young adult playing with the kids that doesn't really know how to play with them. Being super careful even around Sarge the person who would take the punishment in spades. I also find it even more meta when you take into account who Shawn also voices in RWBY. Ozpin who is the exact person Wash would absouletlty despise.

I really want to see a "the Beauty of church" by far my favourite character's in rvb and TV as a whole because he feels like a normal person.

the voice cameo from wash made me jump out of my seat. i used to watch rvb at a younger age than my parents would have liked and wash has always been my favorite.

i never watched past season 13 so i completelly missed on that story but danm, Wash was always kinda the straight man in a world of lunatics and alwasy loved that aspect of him being the worse of the freelancers but the one who survived the most. The Freelancer saga is still problably my most favorite part and the chorus ending made me tear up even.

I always felt extremely close to wash and is still one of my favorite characters to date. I appreciate your dedication to his lore and explaining it very well. Keep up the good work man. Thank you for telling Wash’s story and giving him the recognition he deserves. Him and Church are tied for my favorite character and are some of the best written characters I’ve ever experienced. RvB honestly has some of the best writing I’ve ever seen from a show, from Carolina’s desperate desire to be better than Tex, Sarge becoming more than just a simulation trooper during season 8, and just everything about the Director and the consequences of living in the past, I’ve never seen a show quite like it. It’s like lightning caught in a bottle for me, and I’ll never forget all the wonderful memories I made watching it. Agent Washington really reminds me a lot of Guts from Berserk, where he has to go through all of these terrible things and in turn becomes a force of nature that could be seen as monstrous, but eventually is able to accept people again and finds friendship with the Reds and Blues. Of course, he's not able to fully avoid terrible things happening to him, but he's able to accept it because he's the guy who keeps on moving forward, and knows he has people around him to help him

There's plenty to hate about Zero but Washington's Cerebral Hypoxia is an extremely important piece of character development. It matters, we all just went through 1 season of him with it and another with him coming to accept it. And we as an audience were doing the same, learning and accepting this change. And the opening of Zero wipes it away with a shitty joke, and then knocks Wash out of commission for the whole season

Definitely did not expect such a gift on April fools but thank you, Wash became one of my favourite characters of all time when I was hard into rvb. Love that moral complexity and juicy drama but maybe most of all dedication towards found family, that shit hits just right (Dropped off post-Singularity so good to know I didn't really miss anything there 8_D)

Please do more of these. Also, wonder if Washington was a historical reference as well. George Wahshington didn't really want to be president of the newly-formed US. He was the Commander-in-Chief but he wasn't super well-versed in actual politics and had wanted to just retire instead. So maybe the idea of Wash being pushed unwittingly into becoming the leader of the Reds and Blues was somewhat of a tie-in there? Along with him being dragged back into the limelight after hoping to simply retire several times over?

I definitely see Wash as the true “successor” to Church. He perfectly ties Project Freelancer to the Blood Gulch crew, and can be seen as a “son” figure to The Director - who has a dark relationship with his prodigies. My only gripe is I wish he kept the gray armor, but changed his accent color to Cobalt 💙

Red vs blue was such a good show. And Washington was a prime example of the characters development.

I started my RvB adventures with Recovery One. He's been my favorite character and inspired a lot of my color themes with characters. (My pfp is in B & Y). Call it whatever you want, we all get inspired by something.

This was quite a twist of events, and I REALLY hope you find chances to cover the rest of RvB characters. If not, oh well, that's just how it goes. And I'm cool with that

Like, I rarely see people highlight Washington as a character in comparison to the other freelancers, but I love the fact that you discussed his character to such an extent and also talked about how far he's come. A lot of people forget about his past before freelancer, and what happened in Recovery One, which are both essential to understanding his character. And the fact that while he was one of the worst fighters in his squad, he was still on the leaderboard. Wash is probably one of my favorite RVB characters and it always warms my heart to see him getting the appreciation he deserves.

Washington is my favorite character of the series. I think we can all relate to wanting to be the best, slowly working up the ranks but not being immune to ridicule or mickey, but funnily enough, what solidified him as my favorite character was his scream in Singularity. Wash missed something so obvious that was pointed out to him by idiots and his reaction is to just squat or kneel and yell "God damnit!" This spoke to me on an emotional and spiritual level, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Agent Washington is also one of the only Freelancers who's face we don't see, similarly to the Reds and Blues, showing he is apart of them no matter what

Wow! I've been revisiting RvB after a long time and I've come to realize how well written a lot of the show is. Seasons 6-10 are wonderful works of art and I really enjoyed how you broke down Wash's character as he matured as a person!

I'm honestly impressed with the video. You obviously did your homework and read into the finer details of Washington, his relationships, scenes, etc. I will always love Red vs Blue because it helped me at least try to move on from something in my life, particularly season 9, but also seasons 8 & 10. I'll always recommend Red Vs. Blue to anyone. When I saw you made a video on it I instantly knew I had to watch. Also I thank you for the recommendation on Yugioh Vol. 9. I've been really into Yugioh lately, for some reason, and did like it when the series would take a break from the card game and try another in-universe game for a change. Even if you're recommendation was just a joke I still appreciate it👍.

With Washington being one of my favorites as well, it's been so hard accepting his injury, but one of the last things you said is helping me have a different point of view. Even though forgetting doesn't really heal his mind it does help, so I can only hope he gets to have the rest and relaxation he's been desperately needing for so long. It's kinda amazing how a series already 5 seasons in added a whole new character who basically replaces the previous main character of the series and everyone loves him. How many times does any series pull that off? This never works, like ever.

Washington D.C. is actually mentioned in the song “On Your Knees” as being its own agent, along with Puerto Rico, who is specifically called out for whether that name technically counts or not. Wash is indeed named after Washington State.
