OMG. Metra was stashing those "old" 1971 Metra Electric cars all over the place. On the Milwaukee North line near Grayslake, at the 48th Street Rock Island shop, the yard at Blue Island, and here at 0:28. Like Easter eggs!

Being a retired train driver (engineer) Australia I found this video most interesting. The Metra cab car rode very nice at 70. Also of interest the retired Metra cars and F40PHs.

Yes, seemed like he was flying due to low camera view. Up top engineers level would be a much different perspective. Good for viewing track and turnouts though. I have departed Chicago Union Station on the Amtrak SW Chief after a quick look up from the Sears Tower back in the 90s. Great memories.

😆🇩🇪 we go 160 km/h even through a level crossing. On ICE train tracks level crossing NOT allowed! Trains don’t blare around, no bells jingling. We have strict noise protection laws. In urban areas sound proofing walls must be errected.

The engineer of this train doesn't blow the whistle properly. He's not doing the 2 long, 1 short and 1 loooong.

When the train entered Franklin Park, the driver didn't honk right. It's 2 long ones, 1 short and 1 long. He did too many short ones

That's for crossings. If I recall correctly, according to the CP timetable passenger trains passing through a station (and not stopping at it) are required to continously sound short bursts of the horn. So the engineer is actually doing the right thing
