I know it has been 7 years since you wrote this comment but I will explain what happened. If you pay attention to the child he is wearing the same mask as Skull Face which means that Skull Face is using the power of the Child. The Child always wears the clothes of the person that is using his power and has more hatred at the moment. The Man On Fire was not there so skull face's hatred was the biggest one there.

Hey, that ain't fair. Skull Face is great as a character, but he was poorly utilized in the game. A lot of story elements were poorly utilized in the game. But this one works, I think. He and Armstrong had the same plan, and I don't think that was a coincidence. And again, it's like poetry sort of, they rhyme.

Zero was the exact opposite of Armstrong Zero was a globalist who wanted a unitary world government where there was only one culture dominated by the English language. using the internet and Hollywood, words would cross borders and English would proliferate. when english becomes the majority, the ruling elite can then use English as the vector for the dissemination of memes that teach obedience or whatever message they require by altering the way people think in english. to use an example if i say "fire" the associations that come to your mind may be "warmth", "heat", "cooking", "light". from "light" you then advance to "enlightenment" which is then a synonym for mental knowledge and wisdom. this is John Lockes theory of simple and complex knowledge within the concept of the Tabula Rasa (the idea that people are born generally as clean slates). Zero's world order through their control of the media could alter the perception of words entirely so that the public would develop any prejudice or predisposition the rulers required of them. the AIs in MGS2 basically progress to and spell this plan out in this video /watch?v=eKl6WjfDqYA. in retrospect its actually a really good adaptation of Orwells ideas in the book 1984 in regards to newspeak. what Armstrong wanted was not the individual conforming to the heard and having their ideas decided for them insidiously via memes but for people to have their own ideas and make up their own minds. being as he only had one game the details of his plan aern't as fleshed out but from "ruled by strength not committee" implies he would do away with democracy seeing it as a way for corruption to seep in. furthermore "where the law changes to suit the individual, not the other way around" is a near anarchistic stance basically advocating that laws should be based on natural rights of individuals and that right and wrong should not change simply because a larger group of people believe something wrong is something right. In contrast, Zero wanted to be the person shaping that majority deciding right and wrong the way he saw fit whereas Armstrong wanted to do away with society being able to dictate to the individual entirely

The more you learn about Skull Face through listening to tapes and doing some reading on wiki, the less awkward this scene is, imo. Hated it when I first played the game, and I too thought what followed was shockingly bad. However, my opinion has since changed. In a very similar way to how my opinion of the whole, "They played us like a damn fiddle!" changed. This was partly due to having the cringe wear off over time 😂 The lyrics to Sins Of The Father make a lot of sense as well when you consider the plot. Granted, this game does storytelling completely differently to all other Metal Gears, sections are clearly missing, important developments and information were delivered as optional tapes to listen to.....which having known their importance I'd rather they'd made mandatory in order to progress with missions (maybe in a briefing/board room in Mother base), and Kiefer is barely in it enough to justify firing Hayter. As cringe as this sounds (though I'm certain a lot of people have said the same) the phantom pain felt after completing it and thinking back to all those wonderful trailers....the expectations....the hype.....the disappointment....the missing pieces.......,.that's all starting to fade as I learn more about the characters, how they affected future events, how evil Big Boss really is for how he dealt with his "friends" Miller and, well, you know who if you've completed it *cough*, and how the values of your character throughout are worth appreciating regardless of certain truths being revealed. This game is definitely not perfect but I'm learning to appreciate it for what it is rather than what I'd hoped it would be. And it's rather good.

How come, I ask, nobody understands this part? It's incredible how people overlook many subtleties...The story is clever, and it is explained thru means other than WORDS... This story is not for people who don't appreciate subtleties..., reading helps, as it transports you to the realms of imagination and you learn to appreciate that which words cannot describe: quality content rather than content quantity.Tere are so many interesting this; I cannot do other thing but praise Kojima as a writer -storyteller, rather-, even though part of the story was left out due to Konami; what we have is just brilliant..., with just minor flaws to the story.By he way, I am writer and, of course, an avid reader; especially books in spanish. I do not consider myself a gamer, properly speaking, I consider myself a Metal Gear Solid fan because of its intriguing story and complex characters. Readers will understand where I am coming from.Sometimes you need to LOOK further from that which is VISIBLE and LISTEN more than HEARING.---Personal opinion---

the scene is so bad and awkward but it works so much better if you look at it as skullface trying to do his big mastermind moment and when sins of the father comes on it feels like that was skullface doing his mic drop but all he did was reveal that this entire time he was just a delusional loser. I don't know if it was intentional but its certainly comedic and it kind of works.

Sins of the Father playing after the conversation was so awkward. It didn't fit the scene at all. I have't finished the game yet, but if it doesn't appear again, it's almost like they didn't have a better place to put it. Kojima's directing many timed flagged in MGSV, and this is was one of the most glaring instances.

Idk what to tell you man. I feel like you could show this to a twelve year-old and they'd understand, on some level, how the lyrics fit with his monologue. No matter how old I get, the internet still finds ways to leave me absolutely spellstruck sometimes. It's as fascinating as it is alarming.

@@NoOne-us9xv Compared to the way it's used in the trailer, it doesn't fit the scene. Maybe something more atmospheric? The scene is so poorly direction, just a focus on two sitting characters with a moving background, not much could be done with it.
