@@baddriversofthenorcalarea500 we don't use firearms that aren't drop safe, so your example was worth nothing. And again, we don't go out every now and then and have little bit of fun shooting our cheap PSA ARs and $200 pistols from pawn shop. We train with safe firearms, in a safe environment

No one is shooting directly at me. Being down range doesn't necessarily mean someone is shooting 2" from my head

Yeah, I hear that a lot. I had a scratchy throat two days later. I only hurt for like an hour after getting tazed. But I know others who agree with your sentiment.

Lucka Balazova you may react badly or take it well, i took it bad. pray you don’t because the agony didn’t stop for hours and it was unbearable. it felt like there were rocks and sand behind my eyes for days and i ended up going to the hospital bc the spray chemically burned my eyes and i had to put ointment in them everyday for 2 weeks. other people were back to normal the next day.

@@francocolomba it is that bad that without it even hitting you, the vapor is enough to make you flinch and the mist carried by the air can make it also fall into your eye. It will burn like hell, you won't be able to see because your eyes automatically shut, your nose throat and chest will be burning and add un top of that, the pain won't disipate until 30min to 60min of exposure. But don't take *my* word for it, why don't you try it yourself. *_DON'T_* 😔

The academy is meant to prepare anyone off the street for field training as an officer, it doesn’t mean you’re done learning, training to become a police officer. Probation is easily 1 year after the academy, so in reality it’s more like 6 months academy, 1 year probation/field training, even more. Easy 1.5-2 years of training to truly become an officer 👮‍♀️ 👮.

Working at a state run prison, we are issued O.C. It’s always fun to see new people getting trained on the O.C. and seeing their reaction to being sprayed. Unfortunately, when it comes time to use O.C., chances are it’ll effect you almost as much as it’ll affect the combatant. I wish we were issued tasers instead. I’ve been assaulted a few times and it never fails, another Officer will go to spray and end up blasting me in the face. It’s pretty hard to fight someone you can’t see.
