As comedic as he is and as wealthy as he is from his private enterprises (Fair play to him) I actually believe this man wants to do right by the people in his area and I'd trust him more than many of the party politicians above in the Dáil - fair play to him and his cap 👍🏽

As one of his constituents, he absolutely does real good for us. You need something, ring his office and they'll do their best. My SUSI grant got rejected initially and he got it overturned

@@88888888888888888443 That's what I try to tell people Gearóid but in the capital they just don't understand. In rural areas people vote for someone who will fight for them and their area. We are a representative democracy in one of the most centralised States in Europe. People in areas with smaller populations often have little say when it comes to what happens in their areas unless they can mount a campaign that gains a more widespread following or unless they have a representative in the Dáil who puts them before their party and won't yield to the status quo.

like the north wales accent and a mix of upper valleys as well, about 30 odd years ago got talking to a bloke in the toilet of a pub in spain, asked which part of wales he was from and he told me he was born and bread irish, certain parts are just so similar.

Yeah I once walked into a bank too when the dirt tax (Deposit Interest retention tax) was introduced and asked them what to do. They promptly produced a non resident bank account application form and told me all I had to do was fill it in and to declare that I do not reside in the state at the bottom of it. I told them I only lived up the road and even as a 21 year old I could see that doing that would eventually be found out and would be indefensible when it was so I declined. So I remain unconvinced other people were too stupid to understand what the potential implications were. Healey Rae always tells this story of his mistake but he did all he could for the guy and what happened was no fault of his or the revenue commissioners.
