--------
In this clip, legendary actor Fred Williamson shared some sage advice with fellow star Michael Jai White. Demonstrating a comedically light-hearted yet compelling conversation about the nuances of performance and identity, these veteran heroes of the Hollywood industry began their chat discussing a humorous coincidence involving a T-shirt, leading to a more insightful dialogue about maintaining authenticity and presence on and off screen.
Williamson emphasized the importance of avoiding speech tendencies that may diminish perceived presence and representation, suggesting White maintains a balanced voice that best translates his inner strength. The iconic actor, affectionately known as "The Hammer," related this back to his own experience, recalling advice he received early in his career: to be cautious of letting certain speech habits undermine his impressive physical presence.
Relating it back to his own experiences, White brought up the dichotomy of "code-switching," the linguistic term for adjusting one's manner of speaking according to the audience, and how its use could sometimes be a coping mechanism. This thought-provoking conversation spanned a hearty discussion on maintaining personal image both onscreen and off.

I usually cut out behind-the-scenes footage like this, but seeing the energy between these two was something that I felt everyone should see.

These 2 need to do a movie together and what would be really cool is if it was filmed in the 70s era... Give me a thumbs up if you all agree how awesome that team up would be 👍🏽👍🏽

Fred Williamson represents that raw black masculinity, and it's so missing today

Michael J White is a respectable person and was raised correctly by his parents. He allowed the elder Mr Hammer 🔨 to offer up some knowledge and Michael respectfully was open to it. Some men would have surely failed that test by allowing their stupid ego to force them to become argumentative towards the elder person offering up some gems 💎. Good stuff Michael 👍🏽. My hat 🧢 comes off for you Michael, my respect to you. Next time I see you at the gym hitting the heavy bag (which I did see you there a few years back at LA Fitness gym in Valencia) I’m gonna fist bump 👊🏽 you to show my respect. Good stuff

It's dope to see them together. Putting on the "Black" voice is to comfort ppl. Just talking in your normal tone all day can make ppl feel like you aren't interested or that you have a problem with them. My normal voice gets me told that I'm depressed 😂😂😂 so I tend to go a lil higher or show enthusiasm
