Glad to see someone else understands what I say about forms and kata: they are meant to teach you how to move in a combative fashion. Maybe it doesn't teach you how to fight, but it teaches you some important core principles of movement for combat.

First #1. Too much experience #2. No limits whatsoever with that many black belts, and #3. He still learning /perfecting his craft. This is just my opinion

What most don't know is that's the biggest attribute you can learn in/from traditional combat artists like karate and taekwondo and similar similar arts.

If I was younger and it was the 90s and I was able to get into MMA with a proper coach back then and learned BJJ I totally would have fought MMA a few times at least but by the time it was widely available in every state of the USA and many gyms opened my prime past and I am much too old plus injured from a car accident. It's not worth it for me. but to love martial arts anyway and train and spar inside the gym and practice moves is all that matters to me. Self defense and love of the art. I focus on teaching and motivating people. I did get to coach one amateur MMA fighter before and he won. I had a blast. Michael Jai White is a real martial artist above all first and an actor second.

I can't believe he is saying traditional will not work in the street. It most definitely will i seen friends who have done and i have done it. If you spar all the time in what ever style you are doing and get used to getting hit and hitting a real person you will be fine in a street fight.
