This really has a feel of Chicago/Danny Seraphine on the drums and Lee Loughnane on the trumpet. Late '80s Chicago, think Chicago 18-19 era! I love it! Smitty has even said he's influenced by Elton John, Chicago and Genesis :)
@MrJesusfreakerik2 ай бұрын
That is correct. He is also influences the progressive rock band Yes and the Beatles. What separates Michael w Smith from a lot of Christian artist. Is not all of his albums sound alike. Each relates to the pop rock style of that particular year. Change your world was different in that it did that but also he used his personal influences with pop rock sounds of the 90s to create something unique. He would continue the trend of pop rock sounds with influence and Godly lyrics until 2001. With his worship album where he used a signature sound of worship melodies.

Saw this concert with DC Talk at Clemson. SOOOO GOOD! I'll never forget it. He made a joke about the guitarist being from the Last of the Mohicans. :) At the end of the song, some fans paraded a HUGE golden cross down the isle and in front of the stage. Probably the highest energy concert I've ever attended.

Mate, which part of this song is evil or praising sin? The song is exactly about real: about wearing your cross of gold because it means you are saved and not just because it looks nice.
@andrewdean99345 жыл бұрын
Even Christ went into places that the pharasies or spiritual leaders said exactly what you're saying about Michael and his band in the video. As a musician, I've done shows like this and even in secular bands and when I did, God always opens doors to share my faith, encourage someone, pray with someone and maybe lead someone into a relationship with God. I was always told by someone that was once close to me that my ministry as a musician went on more behind the scenes and back stage than it did while I was on stage. Being on stage is the tool that God may use to change someone's heart, plant a seed so to speak that maybe after the show, we can start to water that seed, again encouraging someone to start that walk and relationship with God. Don't be like the spiritual leaders of Christ's day. Even Christ would go to this show to help Michael.
