One of my favorite shop tours ever! I dont know how to explain it but it just feels so real. It's a shop you know gets used all the time and you can get a sense of how it has developed into what it is now. It's great timing since I just moved into a new house where my shop is now a 2 car garage(I use to have a 24x30). I will definitely be referencing this video multiple times to get ideas for mine. Thank you very much!!

So many of the little details you shared are genius - tape marks to show the size of the staples, your entire shop being moveable, whiteboard on your otherwise wasted-space garage door - it gives me so many ideas for whatever shop I eventually build! Also, I would love to see more artwork videos from you. So many of your furniture videos showcase how artistically you think about projects, it would be great to see you make some real art pieces!

Tons of great info in this video. The one that stuck out the most for me is having tape cut to length of the nails... brilliant! Thanks for all you do! Trying my hand at some hexagon pattern ply. Using scraps, so the wood is already paid for. If I screw up there no real loss.

I always like a good shop tour. I began, like many I suspect, just gathering tools. I’ve now evolved to where I’m beginning to purposefully build out and organize a shop that actually works for me. Your tour was great for me for exactly that reason - as you said, “because it has a home” it lives here… you spend less quality time dancing around in circles looking for the remote to the dust filtration system… thanks for sharing!

Thank you for the tour Michael. I am running permanent power to my two-car w/ attic shop next week. I bought the Delta version of your Jet band saw at a garage sale. Instead of pushing this saw to do re-saw work that it isn't quite suited for, I bought some 3/16" blades and the Carter Saw Blade Stabilizer and put all of the other guides in a box. Our little saws are perfectly suited as scroll saws.

I have watched a few of your videos in the past but this was cool to see your shop layout. It was hilarious to me how many similar things you have in your shop from what I do!! From the Talenti containers my wife gives me when she's done with them, I use the same organizing bins, Milwaukee/Ryobi combos, have the same drill press, I'm also always on the look out for that bucket of old drill bits and parts at sales. . It just made me laugh that I kept seeing the same stuff I have in my garage shop!

I've got a 40x80 shop going in and have watched dozens of videos pertaining to layout and you are hands down (even in the small area that you are in...) one of the best resources that I've run across. Great video, and a very realistic shop. As much as I love seeing these monster sized shops and all of their great expensive tools, it’s just not realistic for most. So this helped encourage me a ton. I’m sure like most it’s the mess and disorganization of my shop that that stalls me up a lot of the time. All of those little tiny add ons to make thing more functional is really cool too

I really love your channel, for both the content and you. The way you present projects and explain them is very clear and useful. I'm inspired to try some of your projects. Especially with the patterned plywood. On another note, one about tools, I often encourage people to hit pawn shops, estate/garage sales, flea markets and more for tools. I have so many tools from those sources that are excellent tools. Not the latest and greatest, but they work and do the job very well. Eventually I will upgrade some of them because I outgrow them, but for the most part there is no need to spend un-necessarily. Thank you for another great video.

Years ago, I built my sled with a hand hole like yours. Definitely helps. My sled is lighter and the hand hole fits a plug to hang it on the wall.

In my younger days I would pick up a side job and based on the project I would look at the tools needed and make sure the cost of the tool I didn’t have was somehow buried in the profit of the job; within reason of course. I ended up with a very nice floor standing drill press and a dewalt sliding miter saw that I have had now for quite a few years. I have also gotten some hand me down tools that were inherited and some I have picked up along the way. Michael, you have a really nice shop for a 2 car garage and your creativity just on building the shop has given me some new ideas. If I get some time to learn how to really post a video, I have a couple of projects that I did with a friend of mine in his shop with his CNC. Cheers!

I love your shop!!! If I had your floor layout mixed with Adam Savage's wall and ceiling I would set up a spot where I could hang a hammock so I never had to leave. Actually just your shop on it's own would be anough gor me to want to live there!!!! Thanks for the shop tour, it was amazing 👏

11:29 Pro Tip: Someone else may have already mentioned it, but most dry erase surfaces are damaged by ammonia-based cleaners causing them to erase more poorly and ghost more as time goes on. Instead, stick with alcohol-based cleaners when possible!

It's a nice feeling when you find the people you follow and admire for their craft are also linked - it makes you all feel like family. Shop goals! It looks fantastic and very inspiring. I'm working on installing a french cleat system in my garage and making everything mobile as well, I know what you mean about everything finding a home with time. I'm hoping to find a good dust collection system design for mobile carts to keep my wife happy...wish me luck :)

10:20 You can cut sheets of steel from old kaput washers, dryers, and stoves. Avoid fridges, freezers, and A/Cs (no point letting out the refrigerant). Put a metal-cutting blade on a circ saw (best use an old saw, especially if you use abrasive blades), and go. Send the rest of the hulk to the scrapyard. Wear tough gloves; cut steel often poses a serious laceration hazard.

I meant to!! It’s mounted to the wall using a 2x4 and framed out with 1x4s. The hardware cabinet helps keep it from sagging

Thanks for tour. Some useful approaches and much appreciated. I really like your belt pouch for measuring - surprised I don't see more of that. Seems such a no-brainer smart idea. Curious what overall dimensions are. I see 415 sq ft. Seems pretty square, so close to 20 x 20?
