Just purchased the S5. Thank you so so much for this video, which apart from a few settings is just as good for the S5 as it is for the S1. You've been a lifesaver compared to the manual that came with the camera. This clearly took a lot of time and work and it's hugely appreciated.

This video illustrates exactly the kind of instruction the manufacturer should provide. I picked up a used S1-R last week and the instruction manuals are almost as heavy as the camera. Thanks for producing this excellent video.

Excellent tutorial! Incredible amount of info. Thanks much. I have one question which you may not be able to answer. I just purchased the camera and am using Zeiss Milvus lenses with an all manual adapter. When I turn on the camera it asked what focal length, etc., so it recognizes that I am using a manual lens. However, I am unable to remove the AF area display lines (box) no matter what I do. My guess is, when defaulted to manual focus, these lines remain. I am sure this issue may be address in a firmware update, but it is a bit frustrating presently. It is a great camera though. Thanks again for your fine tutorial - which I am still working my way through. Lots of info.

Does this happen with native lenses? I have seen a few weird buggy things but I’m not aware of this one As I have not adopted over however I do not see this overlay when I take the lens off.
@blakeanncook7375
@blakeanncook7375 5 жыл бұрын
I have not had a chance to use the native lenses, only Zeiss Milvus (Nikon Mount) via an entirely manual adapter - since the Milvus lenses are manual. I have the AF area display box (in the menu) ticked off, but to no avail. Perhaps this will be corrected in a firmware update. Not a huge deal either way, but would be nice to turn this off.
@blakeanncook7375
@blakeanncook7375 5 жыл бұрын
(Just an update) I spoke the folks at B&H regarding this problem and they indicated (after being on hold for quite some time) that they couldn’t remove the overlay either after attempting to do so on their copy of the camera (presumably in manual mode, using Panasonic lens). The gentleman at B&H even indicated that they gave a quick call to a Panasonic engineer to inquire about the problem. So, it seems this may be a bug in the software when in manual mode, but not sure.

Is it possible to zoom in to check focus while recording and using manual focus?
@MMaven
@MMaven 5 жыл бұрын
It might be able to, but I cannot right now. I was recording last week under manual focus, and not able to zoom in when recording. Could change tho, or maybe there’s a setting im not aware of

Thanks for getting back! I hope it’s something Panasonic can add with a firmware. I haven’t been able to find a way to do it as well.

Does anyone know how to get constant preview to work while having a flash on the camera? When I mount a flash I cannot get it to still function.

They should have a customer af mode where you can design your own stencil outline. Put in no cropping at 60fps at 4k and do a master body made from light weight injected plastic high strength and free firmware and the others will be quaking in their boots. A floppy screen just to rub insult for self mode.

Yes, it's true. In settings you can change if it changes by a full stop or a 1/3 stop too

I was playing with the camera in Adorama the other day and I couldn't figure out the review options. I wanted to thoroughly look at the image to check for banding. And the image was a tiny square in the left corner. I togged the dials and the only other option was zoomed in at 2xx. Is there a way to review images full screen normally?? Please help. Thx

Whats the difference between AFC - tracking and AFC - in single mode? Thx
@MMaven
@MMaven 5 жыл бұрын
Tracking means the camera will try to follow the subject. Single square means it’ll only focus in the square.

Where are the iris, shutter, ISO settings in slowmotion mode?!

Hi! I can't figure out how to adjust the aperture. For some reason, even on manual, the aperture section is greyed out on the display, and the wheel that should control it does nothing.
