An interesting concept! I like the idea of drilling down to the bare essentials. You may be able to polish the inside of that tin to be used as a rudimentary signal mirror (it'll be hard without a peep hole, but I imagine you may be able to use the razor and/or needle to do that if you had to ... or something in your EDC). Though, it isn't like the kit is water tight, you can just place a small hole in the thing, then polish the inside. Couple options for that: Top - You could remove the match strike surface, polish the top of that lid, glue the surface toward the bottom and along the short dimension (less strike surface, but you don't exactly need a long length for it to work). This would give you about 2/3rds of the inside surface as a pretty shiny bit of metal. Top - You could move the match strike surface to the bottom of the container, then polish the top and use that. Bottom - You can leave the match strike surface as it is and polish the hell out of the bottom. Most of the things you have aren't going to scuff it up too much, especially not if the paper lined alcohol prep pad is on the bottom.
@livingsurvival8 жыл бұрын
+zero11010 good thought, but even with polishing (have done this on other tins) doesn't work that well.

I like this challenge and your take on a tiny kit. You should cut a Ranger band for the outside to go around the velcro, then you'd have a good rubber band that could be cut into many smaller rubber bands and another way to secure it to that 550. Keep up the great work.

This is what I’ve put in my micro survival tin: Fire 5 matches + striker 1 beeswax candle 1 ferrocium rod 1 alcohol swap (also medicinal, but I’ve plasters and such in my wallet) 1 cotton ball (idem) Cutting tool: 1 razorblade Container: 1 ziplockbag Communication 1 piece of paper 1 post stamp 1 pencil 1 ballpoint filling Miscellaneous 3 paperclips 2 safety pins 1 bobby pin 1 needle + tread 1 metre of 90 pound test cordage (unwaxed dental floss would probably be more useful) 1 ranger band some wire I want to add some sort of signalling devise, haven't found a good whistle or signal mirror that fits Besides this thin I carry in my jeans pockets a folding knife, mini multitool, Maglite solitaire, cotton bandana, wallet with Fresnel lens and some medicinal stuff and of course a phone. In my jacket I've a lighter and candle in a tin and a notebook
