I have the 15000. 3 INCH bore is pretty tight. I dont think I could go smaller without wearing down the stones. You can do it, but youd have to cut the stones smaller. Then true them in your bore before boring it.

In case anyone reads this, they have smaller stones for under 3" part numbers - 15680 15690 *15740 15700

Yeah this is the Lyle model 2 stones to felt wipers although yes I believe you can swap the wipers for stones

NO it not design for that , ul have to bore the cylinder out first with a boring lathe, then use the hone for cross hatching the cyclinder, which is a hone intended use.

No. The stones and shoes are completely different. The Sunnen micro adjust hone is a way better tool though. I have one of each.

It will. Used properly, this tool can create a bore with less than 0.0005" taper and out-of-round

@@GroovesAndLands That comment may have been slightly misleading. I want to put in oversized pistons and no machine shop will touch my block. If I run this for possibly hours, it'll stay round? Lol

@@joblessalex Yes, with good technique. You should buy an old junk block (should be really cheap) and practice awhile to get the feel of it. You can induce a lot of taper with poor technique. However, it's actually pretty hard to create out-of-round. But don't misunderstand - you can absolutely destroy a block using one of these wrong. unless youre a machinist , with a lathe ,, its useless use the normal spring loaded hone, they are cheaper and do a very good job in skilled hands!

Wow! .060" , that's alot! I had a hard time getting .25.mm, (0.010), that chromoly is tuff!, I used a 3 stone that is why I am here. I would try to keep honing to 10 th or under is my experience, for your sanity, ah ha.😄 (for 60 th have it bored to 55 and hone the last 5 th, would be doable). To get your cross hatch pattern and clean it up, remove any highs or burrs etc.

I seen one guy said buy the u.s.a, but he did not say why. I suppose possibly better q,c. Better tolerances, and materials, maybe someone else with experience could comment.

Spring hones and ball hones make the bore look good. Rigid type hones can be used with a hand drill and certainly can make strait and round cylinders. Your statement is wrong. Sorry
