When I started tooling up my basement hobby shop, I bought an auction lot of micrometers. Among the Starretts and Lufkins, there were several micrometers from J.T. Slocomb.
I've since become somewhat enamored with the brand, and have collected and restored a number of these instruments. I figured I'd share my process, and give a look into one of the parts of what makes this hobby so enjoyable for me.
In this first installment, I disassemble and clean the micrometer, and get it ready for paint.
