The Polar Express (2004)

In all honesty, Polar Express is extremely underrated, like a Christmas movies doesn’t need to have bright colors or jokes or anything like that, and I think that’s what makes it great, that it doesn’t have any of the usual Christmas pizazz that other Christmas films have, it tells a different symbol than being together for Christmas, it tells a story of belief, and I think it tells that story quite well!

No matter how much criticism there is about this animated motion picture, I still love it with all of my heart. This was a movie that I have watched every single year of my childhood and early adult years, and it is still one of my absolute favorites of all time, hands down. Always love that exhilarating train roller coaster scene and the escape from the ice lake. The hobo is still one of my favorite random characters in this film, as well. I do admit that the film is stupid in some ways, but it's still a favorite of mine.

Well, it actually is, seeing as it has only a few stops between wherever it came from and the North Pole, runs at high speed for a majority of the time, keeps on a tight schedule, and actually arrives at its destination on time.... So, yea, it *is* an *express* train.

4:29 In the real world, if someone did not have a ticket, or if their ticket was expired, a conductor probably would have told him/her to get off at the next stop to get a ticket. They wouldn't throw someone off a train, that would ruin a train's reputation. Also the locomotive of the polar express is based on Pere Marquette 1225.

My family used to watch this movie every Christmas day, until we just stopped for some reason, and I haven't seen it since. I've heard it's CGI, but it looked live-action when I was a small child, so that still kinda blows my mind.... I wonder how the movie stands today. and how you guys are going to react to it. (I'm commenting before the premires, by the way. I might edit this afterwards.) Edit, after the premiere: I can tell that it's CGI now. I don't know what to think of the film anymore, but I didn't really know what to think before the video. It's been a long time since I've seen the movie on my own. (edited for word omission, my mistake. This is still before the premiere.)

It’s done with motion capture, which is why it makes many people, myself included, very uncomfortable. It looks realistic but at the same time it doesn’t. I hate it.

@@SolsticePeltier Ah. Maybe that's why younger me was convinced it was live-action. It probably looked more realistic than other animated films at the time, but I grew up with more cartoonish proportioned animated films. I don't really remember much about the experience other than me wanting to watch the movie because it was our tradition, so I don't think I noticed enough to be uncomfortable with it when I was younger. I was pretty oblivious back then (and still kinda am), so...

they worked really hard on getting it to look at least somewhat realistic. The locomotive used the blueprints of the actual pere marquette 1225 for their model

Polar Express is such an awkward movie. At times I feel like there is more to it than what is being shown and the vibes are really hard to explain.

The movie is fine the songs too the uncanny valley doesn't affect my brain because i kinda was born with them basically i am feeling uncomfortable with the Pixar unrealistic movies they made the last years which like around 2000 and 2015 i was watching them even if i was more mature but i was criticizing them as Not realistic enough And the latest ones are like for me too childish for me Basically i was born with beetle Juice Coralline and the polar express and the perfectly animated films of 2D animation On my 5-12 i am 15 and i still have a problem with the unrealistic pixar movies basically i cringe out when i see a one that came today or a year ago basically the latest pixar movies dont have good texture and taste for me idk but f you angree its just i wasn't born with them like you did
