The biggest problem with this movie: the "burglars" were the most sympathetic characters

I can't think of a worst way to reboot this. 1. Annoying SNL actors 2. Unlikable kid 3. Burglars that aren't criminals so you don't root against them Like why?

The worst part about this movie is it took an extremely likable child actor (he played the main characters best friend in jojo rabbit) and made him obnoxious and unwatchable

I find it hilarious that the original director of the first two Home Alone films, Chris Columbus, literally hates this reboot. He said during an interview: "Nobody got in touch with me about it, and it's a waste of time as far as I'm concerned. What's the point? I'm a firm believer that you don't remake films that have had the longevity of Home Alone. You're not going to create lightning in a bottle again. It's just not going to happen. So why do it? It's like doing a paint-by-numbers version of a Disney animated film - a live-action version of that. What's the point? It's been done. Do your own thing. Even if you fail miserably, at least you have come up with something original."

This is the perfect example of a film from the antagonists point of view.

In an original draft of the script, the movie started out with an ad for the McCallister Home Security System, starring Kevin himself. The commercial would then reveal that he has a wife, a 5-year-old daughter and still lives in his childhood home. This would have been Macaulay Culkin's rumored cameo in the film if he had accepted Disney's $2.5 million offer.

Basically this movie portrays the poor/financially unstable as the villains, and the snobby rich as the heros.

Kevin’s family: literally hates him and wants misfortune to fall upon him and his future bloodline Bri’ish boy’s family: *a little too loud*

For the longest time as a young kid I thought home alone was a horror movie. Then I watched the third one and it solidified my theory.

Dude, I love when modern films think they’re being self-aware by talking about how bad reboots have gotten, as though that absolves them of being absolutely terrible films.

Honestly I feel bad for the cast, and can’t blame them for phoning it in for this crappily written reboot of a beloved classic. The actor who plays the main kid (Archie Yates) is great in Jojo Rabbit, and it sucks that his second major movie role is in this trash.

As a British person I would like to say that we as a country do not accept the family in this film as no one in Britain calls it mac Donald's we all call it mcdonalds like civilised people

I'll just throw my dumb idea for a sequel here, because while it's probably bad, I doubt it's worse than this. Kevin's an adult, he's married and has a daughter. He made his own security system and he got rich off of it. Because of his experiences, he's a very protective parent and his daughter is very shy and nervous child because of it. Some criminals get the bright idea of kidnapping his daughter for ransome, so they somehow trap Kevin and his wife somewhere without their phones, then hack into and disable their home security system, while his daughter is home alone (roll credits). Before he left, he was playing with his daughter and accidentally took a walkie talkie with him, wich is now his only way of communicating with his her. At first he tells his daughter what to do, but over the course of the movie his daughter starts coming up with her own ideas and improving her dads. A third into the movie, the walkie talkie either breaks or runs out of batteries and Kevins daughter has to fend for herself, taking her fathers advice to heart while still making the traps her own. The movie ends with the family being reunited, the attempted kidnappers getting arrested, Kevins daughter becoming more confident, and Kevin even implements one of her ideas into his security system. Feel free to make fun of this.

for years I've been wanting them to just remake the first home alone, but with modern day mcauley caulcan, but like the story is the same, so its just a grown mcauley acting as young kevin, it would be so much better than any of these new ones

When the wife said *"Lit"* I had stopped the movie and didn't even bother to go back watching.

Making the robbers have legitimate reasons to break into the house (retrieve their own property to save their house) would have been showing the wet bandits hanging out with their families before attempting to rob Macauley culkin

Now in fairness, the woman who says MACdonalds is Irish putting on an accent

Fun fact: The kid is played by Archie Yates who also plays the character Yorki in Jojo rabbit That might explain the swastika chandelier…

I remember watching the trailers and realizing that the burglars would be sympathizable. Immediately I knew the movie would be trash. The first movie was satisfying because you wanted these terrible people who flooded houses to be in pain, but this one, that won't work since these character are the kind you would cheer for. As soon as I saw Erin from the office, for example, I knew it would suck to see her in pain.

This is a prime example of a reboot trying to make money off of a nostalgic franchise but failing in every way imaginable

The actor for Buzz certainly just straight up phoned it in. Maybe the next home alone, the kid finds a disheveled and emaciated adult Macaulay Culkin living amongs the walls of their house they just moved in. While his parents are away in paris, Macaulay tries to reenact the events of the first movie.

I like how when a toy factory makes a mistake the product becomes significantly more valuable. Someone should just make a factory that just screws up everything, they'd make millions.

A moment of silence for these guys who actually had to watch this for our entertainment.

So much of this movie is executed so poorly. When he punches the snowman you can clearly see the top half of it split from the lower half, showing that it's just foam spheres with powder on them.

The punch scale gets even higher as the movie goes on. By the end, it turns into a "how murderable is this child" scale...and its a 20/10

How to resolve issue, 1. Go to house 2. Talk to family 3. Receive mistaken item 4. Save your fucking house Route actually took 1. Go to house 2. Attempt to steal stolen item 3. IQ -50 for general incompetence 4. Eventual understanding and friendship Now which one of these two would actually make sense to resolve the issue

Watching MWS continuously dunk on a movie is always really fun to watch.

Say what you will about Home Alone 3, but at least it was watchable. Like, I'd tolerate it until the end, even if it wasn't good. But you guys actually watched a Home Alone movie that after the third one until the end credits? True American heroes.

The interesting thing is that many child actors who star in Home Alone movies post MC era is that they don't have much of a career after their role.
