Great video, Jim did not die on the steps, he died in the door way into the room where Danny died. I have a pic of his body laying on the floor that was released to the public in a book a few years ago.

5:55 If any1 is interested, the little boy was named Tommy Downs, 11. The house sat empty for 10 years after it was a ritual place for the Savanah shriners alee temple. Tommy entered the abandoned Mercer House before Williams bought it in 1969 & renovated it. Tommy did fall from the roof and was impaled on the wrought iron fence.

I visited the mercer house and the guides would not even mention anything about the murder! They told us they would only talk about the house but i think part of the reason people go is to see where the crime took place. I bought the book signed by his sister but heard he never wanted his sister to have anything to do with his house .

I make it to Savannah about every 4 years. I was on the MITGOGAE tour about 20 years ago. Back then the tour guide said the boy was chasing pigeons when he fell on the fence. One of the arrow head spikes was broken and he said that’s where the young boy landed. There was no cut away gap in the fence nor were the two spikes removed on later visits. There was no mention of him landing on his head as well.

Every tour guide will tell you a different story. While standing outside of Clary's i heard a guide on a Segway tells his people that it was Jim Williams who ate at Clary's when it was Luther Driggers whose real name was Mo Fetzer.

Awesome! I read this book before the movie came out and had my own vision of Savannah and the locations where the story took place. I enjoyed the movie even though it didn’t quite live up to the book which is common. I’m a huge John Cusack fan (Better Off Dead & One Crazy Summer 👍🏻), so I watch anything with him in it. Great video Grimms!

Agreed, though _Midnight_ would surely be a nightmare to adapt to film without seeming like either a Savannah travelogue or simply unbelievable because of its characters.

Thanks for the video. I'm curious about the kitchen which I guess is in the lower (garden, basement) level. I'm more into the architecture of the house than the murder. I would love to tour the house, but, like you said, it's very limited and whatever you do get to see is in a picture in a book or online.

Love that book! I'd love to visit Savannah. I suggest that you travel to Wisconsin and visit Plainfield. I have a feeling that you'd enjoy the Ed Gein locales.

Great Book and movie- Georgia is my second home… this city has more history than one can believe. And this was a delicious addition to such a wonderful, beautiful, and bizarre city….. kinda like here in Galveston. Only refined

I don't want to sound like a smartass but if you start having health problems later on , go talk to someone who knows a lot about acupuncture or just watch a video about it and learn about all the nerves in your earlobes and how your central nervous system works . There's something like nine major points in your earlobes and most people who do piercings don't seem to know that . Reconstructive surgery can help .

I was in Savannah earlier in 2016 and those spikes were not cut off I have a picture somewhere showing one that is broken where the kid hit his head but they were not cut off that must have happened at some point that year.

I've been there twice and one was missing back 5 years ago. That means someone cut off an additional one.

Gloomy Sunday. Written by poet László Jávor, in 1933 who broke up with his fiancée. The version heard here is of Rezso Seress, however Billie Holiday sang this song too & I enjoyed hearing a woman sing a song of such heartache for I myself just recently had 'the blues' over a lost love. 1 year later I hope you read this and please listen to the full song and look up the lyrics. _Enjoy!_

+Moviestar Memories I really started too and hence the reason for the video. Finally watched the movie and now reading the book. The more I find out about that place and the family and the incident the more I dig wanting to know more. His sister isn't very liked around town...well people talk.

A few tibits.Jim used to troll bus stations for young men.Some of his antiques were questionable.Danny was so bad his mom put a restraining order on him after he attacked his sister.Danny wanted to do Jim in and make it look like a robbery, this was witnessed, and in the trial Danny and Jim were karma IMO.And Jimleft his sister next to nothing in his will. All that aside Jim had a great work ethic in flipping and restoration.It is old info, but there is alot of it.AND the place is haunted by both by Danny and Jim, according to workers who will not give names, because they;d be fired.THAT is why no pix or video.Hope that helps.If you are crafty you might get EVPs though.LOVE your channel.

My mom used to work for Jim Williams in his old shop behind the Mercer house. Do you know where Jim Williams is buried? I'd ask my mom but she passed away in 2004.

The volume is low in this video, cause the mic is too far from your face, or the volume wasn't turned up to full volume. But, I like the house and liked most of the movie. Jude Law was sexy and Kevin Spacey is an interesting actor. I also liked the funny transvestite/homosexual in the film.
