great explanation and makes so much sense. i too was confused over the title/chorus for so long. I've avoided reading/watching any interviews with Morrisey and the other Smiths members for so long in hope of maintaining the enigma, and sometimes its even more fun and interesting to read/hear of others interpretations rather than "the absolute reason/truth". it's probably why i enjoy the films of David Lynch so much, lol! he doesnt go into any great details about the "meaning" and leaves it to the audience to engage and work it out for themselves...even if (as is often the case with Lynch films) there is no one simple understanding or explanation. What i enjoy about Morrisey is something he has in common with Lynch...they write enigmatic/ambiguous mysteries. It's why their work stands the test of time.

I've said it before but you really are very good at understanding what makes Morrissey so unique, the way he uses his voice is so clever and his sarcasm is always really funny and so subtle, great job! That's hilarious because when you asked, I thought of a cock ring!!! You're English is fine.

With Morrissey. Rubber Ring obviously refferance Condoms. But clearly a thousand things besides. As Morrissey is a Dictionary within himself. And thats what makes him unique. As he could state one word, and mean something else, a Classic Movie or retro Song. That's MORRISSEY
