That HUD is decidedly western-looking... It even displays JOKER and BINGO fuel. Did Romanian MiG-21s always have such a western-friendly HUD or was that a post-Cold-War upgrade?
@CrisURace4 жыл бұрын
it's the Romanian LanceR upgrade made in coop with Israeli's Elbit . Wikipedia knows more, for sure.

Amazing! The Hud pretty much looks like F-16 Hud expect It has readings in Km/h.

yep it's upgraded ( hence the nickname LanceR)

Awesome video, thanks you Gica Stancu and CrisU. So what does Alpha nad Joker warnings mean? Bingo is low fuel AFAIK, but the others?
@CrisURace6 жыл бұрын
+SanchezIR alpha si angle of attack warning I think, dunno what joker is though...
@BrandonSS5 жыл бұрын
Alpha is the AOA warning and Joker is the low fuel warning, preparing the pilot for Bingo, which means that the fighter has just enough fuel just to get back to base.

I didn't realise these manouvres were all carried out over highly populated areas? That's reckless and highly irresponsible, professional pilots don't take risks with other peoples lives, totally ruins the show. Shoreham, anybody?
@CrisURace4 жыл бұрын
You know what an airshow is?
@waynesimpson20744 жыл бұрын
@@CrisURace EGAST?. I can only assume that wherever this show is in the undeveloped world has little regard for safety. Sunderland airshow like many, many others does not take risks with spectator safety. The only safety feature this pilot is using is afterburner...and he knows it.

@@waynesimpson2074 First, the Sunderland air show benefits from having a coastal location. So it's easy to avoid populated areas. But you can't hold air shows in non-coastal areas without flying over populated areas. Second, large international air shows tend to take place at large international airports for obvious reasons, and these airports are generally located close to populated areas. You can't hold an international air show at a small remote airbase. Third, following your logic there shouldn't be flyovers at military parades or sports events either.
@waynesimpson20744 жыл бұрын
@@roromil2441 You are the one not applying reason or logic: We are watching a video specifically on aerobatic manouvres...not flybys or flyovers...don't try to muddy the waters, stick to the flightplan. Next time you want to take a bit longer to consider your response before typing and making yourself look less intelligent than you probably are. Professional pilots don't take risks with other peoples lives. Period.
@roromil24414 жыл бұрын
@@waynesimpson2074 Well excuse me for muddying your simplistic black-and-white world view! So only island nations or countries with large uninhabited areas should hold international air shows? Write a strongly-worded letter to the UN. And the difference between a flyover and an air show (a difference that you invoke) is merely one of degree, not of essence. And to establish how much riskier an air show is you'd have to establish how much time the jet taking part in it actually spends overflying the inhabited area.
