Good hand speed and skills are one thing, but Zab has SFA behind those punches. In the Tszyu fight, he caught Kostya with a beautiful uppercut early, but it had nothing behind it. He was proving too quick for Tszyu, but when the Russian born Aussie managed to catch him with a few rights, Zab was overpowered and done.

Classic fight. Zab was doing really great too, but Miguel kept walking forward not giving AF. Those low blows though, they were accidental, but man I'm sure that hurt.

To be honest i don't think those low blows were intentional from Cotto. For sure i believe they affected Judah because Cotto was a hard puncher specialy at 147. Judah did his thing also, he was able to cut cotto mouth and make him bleed with some acurate uppercut counter punches. You can tell Cotto can take a shot because he was never knocked out cold in his carrer.

Cotto is not known to be a dirty fighter so in that regard I’ll give him credit. But fighters do get frustrated and I think the speed and pace frustrated cotto which makes fighters take riskier wilder punches. Zab never reached his potential because he never fined tuned his physical abilities to match that with craft and strategy. Maybe his team was partly to blame for that. Also zab lacked that power with those punches.

I love Cotto. He is all class. No way those were on purpose. His was a ferocious body puncher with his hook to the body being one of the best in the sport at the time. Zab had all the talent in the world but could never seem to get out of his own way.

Cotto "occassionally" got very dirty..he was getting that work, i remember he picked floyd up and carried him to the corner..Trinidad would cheat when he get outboxed too

Judah had all skill as the best Mayweather Mosley Corrales Cotto etc but he just wasn't consistent enough . You can see him avoiding combinations with ease in this fight but then getting hit with telegraphed punches . Plus those low blows can really take a while to recover from , makes the subsequent body shots much more devastating than without the low blows . If these two guys fought 10 times it probably would go 4 wins each and 2 draws . When Cottos chin gets checked hard he gets in bad trouble but later in his career he was better at his defense . Cotto ended up with the better career than Judah but the talent level was never higher than those years in those weight divisions , 1993 to 2008 .

Judah was never elite. He was very good but never elite. He would rule a division with no active elite talent. He was a mayweather clone with less skill, who thought he was Tyson. He was broner before broner.

@@CP-wh1md I disagree . Judah could walk the talk but many times it didn't go his way . He wasn't a quitter and he brought the best out of the best in each top fight he was in . Like I said there was so many top fighters in 126 to 154 back then it's crazy . When Broner got KOd his career feel apart unlike Judah . Zab kept taking on top fighters winning and losing .

Cotto is a great fighter but i think if he would have never low blowed twice or headbutt him zab would have had more speed. This was jusr a dirty fight. Low blows is someone taking your air out like a kidney punch

He was landing clean shots and moving around like a teenager in that ring WAY after the last low blow. Stop meat riding.
